So 14 in this tournament so far. The record is 18 and we're only half way through the group stages!

I blame VAR, I mean that Tunisia one was bloody ridiculous! I wonder how many of those were given on the field, or would have been without VAR

Against Japan vs England you would see few more penalties

6 have happened as a direct result of VAR, excluding any that happened today.

I've also seen two blatant penalties not given! Both quite similar actually, they seem to pick up the slightest hand ball but don't notice players being rugby tackled.

Personally I think the amount of penalties is correct and VAR is a good thing.

Too many swan diving dirty playing over paid prima donnas. And now they are being found out.

I have always hated the "pundits" having a go at the referee for not seeing something that they have umpteen TV views of.

The more input from the video ref the better.

Rant over.....

From a world cup watching rugby fan.

Rugby players spend a whole match pretending they aren't injured, footballers spend a whole match pretending they are.

So 6 VAR and 8 normally? I’m surprised it’s the few. That said they overturned one using VAR yesterday too. I love how we still had something to moan about after Monday’s match, my fear of not being able to moan appears to be unfounded. While u have human, u have error

One thing.

Look a football match objectively, how many fall over and roll around in absolute agony because of a dislocated bootlace.

I think they need an American football style system where managers have a number of times they can demand VAR be used.

Looking at the world cup matches, that would mean about 25 challenges each team.

With some more for the ref.

Yup!

But there's got to be a way to get ones like the Serbia game looked at again.

Retrospective yellow and red cards?

They can be overturned at the minute, why not imposed before the next match?

Worthing

VAR is killing the momentum of the game.

The problem is that Serbia lost by one goal and they probably would have scored that penalty. So a card is not really strong enough to make up for that, but at the same time i don't think the defenders deserve anything stronger either (I.e. a ban)

Wow thank you. I've never received a fab award before.

So my acceptance speech.

I'd like to thank my parents for teaching me it's ok to have an opinion.

My teachers for helping my to develop my reading and writing to a standard where I am able to express my opinion.

Imagine if Germany and Argentina both went out at the group stage and England qualified. It would be like the second best world cup ever.

They need to be clearer on what they are going to review and not. There have been numerous occasions where the ref hasn’t asked for a review on field, yet has been contacted to look at an incident. Then plenty of incidents where what looks like the same offence has been commited yet play goes on. I don’t understand why that is, they need to make it clearer where the lines are. Glad to see people still blaming the refs tho, even if it’s not the on field one
