"A very good question "

Friendship is both the realm of non-sex, non-feelings and yet, also entirely the realm of sex and feelings.

It’s a conundrum.

"Friendship.

Different things to different people. I had a friend who told me that she "used" her friends for different purposes. One for talking to, one for going out with, one for feeling superior to (yes really) etc. While I don't agree with the way she expressed it and her cynical view of friendship, she had a point. I do different things with different friends but I don't see it as using.

I have three people apart from Mr N who I count as friends. All three take me for what I am even though I'm sure I must annoy them intensely at times.

For me friendship is about being there for someone.. to listen.. to care... to laugh... to have fun with but also be there no matter what... to be a shoulder and to hold them if needed or to be a sounding board or to rant and cry if needed.. as a friend I expect nothing in return. But hopefully it is reciprocated!!

Something that's wonderful and desirible in theory but, for me, in reality it's a significant source of frustration, anxiety and sadness. My experience of real friendship has been a rare one and it's one of those taken for granted life skills I just don't seem to be very good at.

I can count the number of people I know in hundreds, maybe thousands.

I count my friends one one hand. Those who I would always be there for whatever they need and whenever they need it. Those who I would stand in front of the oncoming bus to protect.

Those who even if they hurt me I will never walk away from and who I would give all that I have for.

And those I know would do the same for me.

There's a fortune in friendship...

"Friendship.

Love, philial love mostly, with ludos if you're my friend! And in my book mutual respect and loyalty.

Very, very few people are truly loyal nowadays, or even appreciate loyalty to be honest, but I hold that virtue in the highest regard.

Speaking frankly, friendships can be difficult to gain and to maintain. In certain areas of life there just isn’t always the ability or the people to forge those close connections, especially for men with families or commitments to their time.

One of the things that was unexpected from my previous time on fab was the amount of friendships that I found through swinging and meeting.

It's like one of those old sweet jars. Screw top with counter. Put a few coins in the other evening and found the top wasn't tight. Hmmmm . . .

I only put 5. 10 and 20p out of my pocket into it. Yesterday morning I placed a 50p under the top 10p. Result . . . Different position for lid and 50p gone, no doubt along with a handful of coins

He's staying with me at the moment. He'll be spoken to tonight when I get home.

Friends to me is a connection with someone you care about deeply, want only the best for. You have each others backs, no matter what. They will be honest with you, when everyone is just agreeing for less drama. Is loyal and someone you can confide in..... Though that's more the definition of a true friend. There are a lot of fake friends, or convenient friends also.

Having someone there to support you in life, be there to share the good times and the bad and bring humour to every situation. That's what I call good friends.

Then there's also those 'friends' who are there for filthy fuckery.

I'm lucky that I have a fair few of those friends and 'friends'.

For some of my friends it means we promise to meet up often, we know it's been too long. Life gets in the way. When we do though, we are just as close as ever.

For others over the years I've learnt that the friendships have meant more to me than them.

Some friends though are the family we choose.
