.. to be called beautiful, gorgeous, pretty, cute, stunning or something else when someone is paying you a compliment about your looks. I made the mistake of saying a woman looked pretty once, she didn’t like it, said that’s more to describe a flower or a nice vase.

Stunning is off the cards too, apparently that’s a bit to much and too much to live up to!

‘Pretty’ is not just an adjective to describe inanimate objects. It’s a perfectly legitimate word to describe a woman. Men can’t be expected to mind read as to what different women do and don’t like.

Auntie Jay says: "You can't tell anything from a picture so don't bother paying compliments because it's shallow and disingenuous. In person, you actually don't need to say anything either because whatever you think of the other person will be given away by your facial expression and eyes. If you like what you see, just spend a bit longer appreciating them by your gaze, so that they notice you appreciating them with your gaze. In the words of the great Irish bard Ronan of Keating,"you say it best, when you shut the fuck up"".

As has been said. Everyone is different. I have never been one to like recieving compliments they make me uncomfortable but I do like being called by pet names. It feels like a compliment to me but in a way I can enjoy and not squirm at. I notice loads of women on here say they hate being called pet names.

I suppose it could mean the person has just forgotten your name or something lol, or they can't be bothered to learn it to begin with.
