Following on from the battered sausage post.

I grew up in Yorkshire, 99% of the chippys there used haddock, which I love.

Moving to Lancashire some 20 years ago, I found the bulk only sell cod, which I can't stand, or just advertise the product as fish, which could be anything.

So are you a haddock, cod or other

Definitely cod. As much as anything because at most chippies the cod is skinless, but the haddock will have the skin on.

But who is anyone kissing - the fish just happens to come with all that yummy batter!

Originally Cod until I was convonced to try Haddock one time when Cod numbers started to be over fished. Now much prefer Haddock, very rarely eat Cod, and only if Chippy has run out of Haddock.

derby

As a kid and teen I found fresh caught fish was the best usually what,d I caught from the day before mainly plaice, (and later in life mackeral from a different area in the uk) and leading upto this from the Company I had (my dad) getting the bait (Digging for it there and then in the sand) and the environment Its memories I,ll always treasure, haveing the chance to even fish there again for me would be something special Indeed but full of memorys and emotions, I was lucky as a kid and teen to do these things and I know this more as I get older..

Can't remember the last time I had fish from a chip shop. I prefer to go to ma local fishmonger and I'm quite partial to a nice piece of Halibut or Plaice.
