Ok so having had a discussion with a female who is a friend.. she was not being nasty..but was critical of me not finding more meets ..

I said well it makes a diference having pics ..and im sure my profile int perfect.

But its mainly too many single guys in our area .makes it very hard to stand out .

Dis believing my reason .

We set up a search

Male looking for female between 18 and 52 . Who can travel and accom and has public pictures and had one veri by meet

We ran the search on men aged 18-18 ..wrote down the result.

19-19 wrote it down

20-20 etc

By the time we got to men aged 49

We were near a thousand ..this is just in a 20 mile search area

We ran the search for women

18-52 who can accom and can travel .who has public pics and atleast one meet.

So the girl our theoretical 'guy is looking for

Result.

61 profiles

No wonder women moan about getting bombarded with messsages

And single guys moan about never getting replies

My point was ...surely there shoild be a limit to how many single guys can continue to join

As not only does it become a pointless excersize for them

It becomes an awful user experience for the women trying touse fab and getting unmanageable amounts of mail

The site owners know how many profiles they have and of what type ..single fem ..couples...single guys .

Etc for a given area .

It seems reasonable to simply.not allow more single guys to join whem the ratio is 20 to 1 or above already

And they cant say its about revenue ..a huge proportion dont pay site support anyway

you decide to delete your verified profile, just cos of 'stuff', you come back in a couple of months in a new unverified profile...but fab then says..

no thanks too many guys in this area..please come back later.

I dont fucking care how other guys run their profiles or 'ruin' it for other guys..at the end of the day,you cannot limit a sex,a gender, a race from accessing a FREE site and remember not everyone remains a site supporter forever.

You have two options OP. You can set up a whiny thread under some sort of pseudo demographic agreement and take the responses that come.

Or you can just accept fab as It is. Why should it be changed to suit your personal preferences issues or to meet your desired outcome.

I havent whined at any point .. i simply pointed out a fact..ie the the numbers of profiles..followed by an opinion ..that in my opinion the ratio causes problems.on both sides ..and perhaps there should be a limit

Or let the women search from the huge range of men available. They can do it in stealth mode if they are nervous of searching. Its the logical thing to do, they get to communicate only with who they want and it tajes the pressure off blokes. Sisters doing it for themselves as it were.

I don’t care how many single guys there are or what the ratios are, I’m just here looking out for my little corner of fab and being the best me that I can. That way when I find someone that I like then I’ll maximise my chance that she will like me too.

Also OP if you’re solely relying on fab for your meets then you’re sorely limiting yourself.

You are always going to get more men than women on any form of dating/hookup site...

But I think if that’s the case (which it probably is in the majority of areas that men out number the women) then that’s benefical for women in a way... they get the pick of the bunch... they can be quite choosey about who they reply to, who they’re attracted to or stood out to them...

But all you have to do is try to stand out above the rest... write a good profile, have a variety of pictures and then when you send messages try to stay away from the usual shite they probably get day in day out.

To be totally honest it does sound like you’re quite bitter about it... you want to ‘cap’ men signing up so you have less competition but you’re also saying it’s to save women complaining...

I understand there’s probably a lot of rude guys on here who are literally just messaging every woman the same copy and paste messages and so on but step up your game and I’m sure you’ll be alright

Don’t forget though, that women do check your veri’s to see what type of women you’ve gone for previously, my friend did this a lot, she used to check the guys veri’s to see if what type of women they went for (mainly to see if they just slept with anyone and everyone)

Yes ya research is true but how have I been on here for just over 5 months and meet about 25 people. . Yes there is way more men out there but is not hard too find a meet .. I found the first few weeks a bit hard .. What i did was i made my self stand out .. I have people message me back saying sorry not interested. I sent them a reply saying thank you for getting back too me and I hope you have a lovely weekend. She messaged me back and got talking . We still chat 2 this day ..

If you think you won't find somone you won't.

Show people ya different and stand out ... just don't give up

I have done same experiment and covered a 50 mile radius ... It was amazing the difference!

And yes it isn't pleasant being a lady on here a lot of the time ... I mainly have a hidden profile! I also do not enjoy having to troll through countless awful messages and have to sort the wheat from the chaff.

But I'm not sure limiting numbers would work because knowing my luck they would all be arseholes and leave me no choice but to leave.

Maybe if the men on here learned to read profiles only messaging those where they were what the lady is looking instead of blanket messaging inappropriately, life would be improved for all users!

I always think this is a Catch22 statement. I think a lot of guys start off reading the profiles, crafting a message, taking their time, trying really hard.....and get no result. So they then start copying and pasting.......and get no real result. From that they then start carpet bombing and adding to the problem

I do think the numbers skew things. I have to say, I wouldn't use this site as a single guy.

Its all very well saying you have to stand out from the crowd, but with whats limited to a few photos, a few words and message service, thats bloody hard!

I can certainly understand it being demoralising, but seriously, all I want to know is, what interests you about me as a person, what do you think we have in common, and what do you think you have to offer? I would have thought that was a logical way of messaging anyway. If we don't have that we're not getting anywhere. And an attempt at answering these questions means you're better than the vast majority of my inbox.

I figured out how to use my message filters very shortly after joining, if women can't work out the filters or refuse to just for the ego boost of saying I get 1000 messages a day then that is down to them.

But I personally like having many potentials to choose from, why should my options be limited.

Ok, stand on the outside of that statement. Its all about the men proving to you that they are good enough for you. What do they have to offer you? Why should you be bothered with them?

Its already stating who is in charge. Who has the upper hand. Its hardly an equal relationship (I don't mean a romantic relationship).

Now I understand why you take the approach you do. But its the numbers pressure that skews it all in the females favour and allows you to have the advantage. If a guy doesn't make your grade, you just jog him on and move onto the next guy. He doesn't have that option.

Women are free to use filters to block the volume of mail they receive (I do).As for single males,I agree there are so many more than females in most areas,but don't think they should be stopped from joining.

Some single men still do really well here despite the sheer numbers they compete against.

I can certainly understand it being demoralising, but seriously, all I want to know is, what interests you about me as a person, what do you think we have in common, and what do you think you have to offer? I would have thought that was a logical way of messaging anyway. If we don't have that we're not getting anywhere. And an attempt at answering these questions means you're better than the vast majority of my inbox.

Ok, stand on the outside of that statement. Its all about the men proving to you that they are good enough for you. What do they have to offer you? Why should you be bothered with them?

Its already stating who is in charge. Who has the upper hand. Its hardly an equal relationship (I don't mean a romantic relationship).

Now I understand why you take the approach you do. But its the numbers pressure that skews it all in the females favour and allows you to have the advantage. If a guy doesn't make your grade, you just jog him on and move onto the next guy. He doesn't have that option."

If the numbers went the other way then I'd reverse it. And indeed when I reply I try to do so as an equal. I'm not up on some high horse here. I'm not better than anyone else, the demographics just work in my favour. I just don't see what's so desperately difficult for apparently the majority of guys, to be able to say "you interest me because x". Preferably where I'm not left feeling like they'd shag anything with a pulse and a vagina. On the rare occasion I send first messages that's what I do. It's basic communication.

The forum is not at all appropriate for finding meets for everyone. I find all of my interesting and characterful men well away from the forum. The forum certainly doesn't represent the cream of the crop. It represents those that are here mainly to chat and those that like the sound of their own voices!

so he wants to put limits on guys joining. so does that mean we can choose who joins the site. for example if I like harry and his name is put forward, can I decide to not let him on the site. why would I like harry to be on the site or not be on the site. rather stupid way to look at it. Then harry must look like the person who I wish to be on the site regardless of another person. why limit it ...... gosh just like saying you have blue eyes you carnt be on the site. Men are challenged to differentiate themselves yet their messages to popular women on here, the one place they have a chance to do this, usually disappear unread into a pile. I've found the forum to be the only place where I can reliably connect and exchange half decent conversations with attractive women. Nothing has yet come of it though precisely because so few people use the forum so people are too spread out on here. If more used it I'm sure it would be a wonderful way for men to differentiate themselves. As it is it seems we only have pics and status updates to try doing that.

Just as if you walked into a bar, all the nervous guys put themselves out of the game by remaining in the shadows, the idiots come up and give the verbal equivalent of an annoying ass pinch, and then there's the other guys, either boring or half interesting, stood at the bar, either capable of holding a conversation or cracking a joke and standing out or not. That's what needs properly modelling online, both for dating and for this imo (leans over and does annoying ass pinch haha )
