Newcastle and Gateshead

right... been having a massive arguement with people in the pub about this...

the things you talk about over drink...

anyway got round to tv themes and the whole pub got in on this...

right... what we decided in the end was that you were allowed: 1 british TV theme tune... 1 American TV theme tune.. and 1 Australian theme tune....

so mine ended up being:

Blake 7 for UK (space 1999 was a close 2nd)

The Fall Guy for US (very controvsial)

and Sons and Daughters for Australian (closely followed by a country practice)...

so what would be yours.... 1 of each...

Barry Grey was the composer of Fireball XL5's theme music with Charles Blackwell who wrote the lyrics and Don Spencer on vocals.

Actually it was made by Sir Lew Grade for the American ABC channel in partnership with his own ITC entertainment. Unfortunately as it was shown opposite "Mission Impossible" it didn't do very well and was dropped after 24 episodes.

More of a UK/US partnership but very certainly with the main eye on the US market.

The big problem is the aussie show,

apart from the usual suspects most people can think of a lot of Australian TV from the 70's, 80's and most of the early 90's was made in the UK and the US so it's really quite difficult to think of homegrown Australian TV shows often partially remembered from dim and distant school time lunch breaks.

(That is of course if you were lucky enough to live close enough to home to be allowed home for dinner which was when many of the early Aussie soaps were shown.. eg The Sullivans).

What you say is very true and thank you for sharing you’re good-natured attempt at redressing any confusion created by my post.

So you’ll also perhaps forgive me for being utterly “Anal” in pointing out my intentional use of a “possession apostrophe”, confirming the list did not intend to suggest Led Zeppelin played the theme tune,,,,

Jeezzzzzzzzzzzz sigh,,,,,,,,,,, Sox flounces out and returns to the light of his self imposed sabbatical from this cut and thrust of well-intentioned one-upmanship……

Yeah baby… its gotta be fun to be fun ! ……..if y’all catch my drift….. y’all have a nice day… ya’hear pffft!

My good man/woman, I wasn't being pedantic just merely pointing out that the original song was performed by CCS not Led Zep.

It would be like comparing Dame Edna Everage and Gok Wan's fashion sense (in the guitar riff stakes) One was the original, the other made it better if you get the gist.

Mr Artful picks up a broken high heel from the ground that appears to have come from a chintzy cheap 2.99 oversized glttery ladies shoe, where it snapped off as a drama queen had a hissy fit and stomped off!

As an earlier poster asked why was there an argument....ahem....

I think shows why there was an argument in the pub, not certain if alcohol was a contributing factor....

Its not an argument, its just playful banter.

Its all part of the fun on the forums

If I had upset anyone I'm sure they would have said something by now
