I need mobile phone help before i make myself look a t**t lol

Right just been and bough a new phone today

I am on cantract by for reasons i not go into i needed to get a new phone

so ive been and bough one to put my contract sim in

its not a open phone its locked to a newwork but obviously the network i am on

ive put my sim in and the provider logos come up and i have a signal yet the phone with not let you dial out/in or send a text, it does go on the net tho

ive never had this problem before ive always just put my sim in and away you go

but i know phones are getting much more complicated now days so does anyone know do i have to change any settings in someway to get it to dial out etc?

i know this sounds a odd question but i dont want to take it back and complain it down work only to be made to look a fool because i havnt done something really simple like change some settings lol

call your network's helpline, they'll sort you out quickly - do it from your old phone if neccessary and have the box your new phone came in with the barcode label handy

prolly just settings that need tinkering with. also ur providers CS can send a data signal to the phone if you ring them up. best bet would be to take it back to the shop and have them sort it

You could also go online to your phone provider's website and see if there are any suggestions if you don't want to talk to someone on the phone about it. x

Last timeI got phone from carphonewarehouse they forgot to mention that they have to contract your supplier and get the sim working (on orange)

I couldn't make calls for two days or text

Maybe it is a similar thing

Mind you they didn't remember to do it til I rang the help desk !

Xxx

Tayside

Phone them up from the old mobile, give them all the details of the new phone e.g. IMEI number and the number on the new SIM card, wait for them to send updates to your new mobile, read and delete them, turn phone off, wait wait seconds and turn it back on again; it should then all work from there!

marden

ring your providers helpline, from either phone, they should be able to text you the settings for internet and mms messages, save the text and job done.

i cant get it unloicked as its a new phone and if i unlock it it will make the warranty void

im just taking it back tomorrow i just wondered if there was something simple i had over looked to make it work before i did but it seems not

Could be something as simple as switching the phone off, then switching it on again
