End Credit Scenes in Movies

What are your thoughts on end credit scenes?

Interesting or a pointless waste of time?

In my opinion, I think they should stop having end credit scenes in movies these days as there is no point in them at all. Sure there are some good ones like at the end of the first deadpool movie which was a straight up parody of the one from Ferris Bullers Day Off but there are some that just ask why was that worth sitting through the credits.

If it's a Marvel film , you have to stay to the end as they normally have a link to another film

True but there were some that were pointless like in the first Avengers or the first Guardians of the Galaxy for example.

The way I see it, any end credit scene hinting a sequel should be at the end of the movie instead.

They probably there as part of the thanks and contract of the people employed during the filming. How often do you hear about actors arguing about who's name come first, although that's probably pr spin.

The new Ant Man movie has an end credit scene which I would consider pointless as it's just a giant ant playing on a drum set.

Oh I love end credits especially the cryptic ones that true comic geeks would get especially when friends are baffled by them an I know what it is (not that am a geek haha)

The reason why I found it pointless as it doesn't hint to further movies and it doesn't add much to anything.

It did it showed the collector talking with Howard due to film linking to 80’s Gunn likes the cheeky nod to fans who remember Howard was a dodgy marvel film most people don’t know who Howard is or that it was even a marvel film, plus there are rumours Gunn has a script for a new cheeky Howard the duck film due to deadpool r rating ( yes Gunn sacked by Disney so may never happen) plus the collector is a link to future films and the cartoons

All end credits are cool I love when marvel started it watching people rush out at end of movie and not knowing was like a secret geek thing now everyone know lol so think they trying to be cryptic so marvel geeks know what stuff is even in ones that aren’t that cryptic have hidden things to see

I like them more when watching at home so I can fast forward past the actual credits and get to the scene. Not fussed about reading who the sound designer was etc...

I can understand that it is a nice nod to all the fans out there but from a different perspective, end credit scenes like that are like deleted scenes that have nothing to do with the film's plot.

We always stay until the credits are finished.

Usually its good music.

Sometimes theres another scene from the film.

Funny outakes.

To be respectful to the people who contributed to the film.

I do get peed off when staff come in to clean before the credits finish.

Clue is in the name, credits.

Everyone who works on them deserves a nod, however small.

Though I didn't get a credit for 'corset advisor'. The male lead in a big (alas rubbish) movie had put on some weight and had an intricate and specialist costume. Friend of mines a producer and asked where they could get something to lace him up.

Ok I think I may have caused some confusion on which end credits I was on about as I've just realised that when I spoke about end credit scenes, you may have thought I was on about all pre-credit, mid-century and post-credit scenes.

I was actually referring to the post-credit scenes. I have no problems with the pre and mid-credit scenes as they do add to the movie's plot but it's some of the post-credit scenes that I'm not keen on.

Sorry for the confusion.

I didn't see that 1 pointless as in the film ironman ses that is wot thay are going to do if thay win. So i sor it as part of the film. In that sence.

What pisses me off, is the insistence of tv producers in shrinking the credit roll to a tiny corner of the screen while some vacuous non entity tells us about the upcoming series of Celebrity Jungle Dancing On Ice Factor. I want to see some of the names of the smaller characters and listen to the music!

If it's a war film based on true events and the ending credits all the real life guys who served in that particular battle then it's definitely not pointless.
