Ladies - Experience of Cerelle (mini pill)

Started on this a few weeks ago, first time I've been on the pill in 11 yrs. My periods were becoming horrendous so my doc suggested the mini pill to help (can't take combined pill for other health medical reasons).

However I've started bleeding the last couple of days and understand that this can be quite a common side effect. Have many of you had this? The information leaflet, for what it's worth, says approx 4 out of 10 women will experience spotting. Can't be arsed with this! It's heavier than spotting but not as heavy as my period.

I get spotting for a few days every few months. I know it’s common for new forms of contraception to take a couple months to settle down, so I’d probably give it a bit longer

Lucky biatch

Think I'd rather just have my monthly blow out than this. At least I know where I am with that.

She also presecibed norethisterone to take a few days before my period is due as we're off on our hols and I wanted to avoid a period completely if possible.

Yeah, was thinking that, especially as it's been so long since I was on anything.

It’s probably just your system getting used to it but if you’re concerned go back to your GP

Somewhere nearby

I was on it for a while as I can’t take the combined pill either and it didn’t agree with me at all. I had terrible spots on my face, put on weight and (even more awful that usual) mood swings.

The bleeding did calm down a bit after a while but I ended up having to stop taking it.

I went on it a while back and still had my usual periods. Came off it for various other reasons and then didnt have a period for months instead.

I've been on it for years. Used to get really bad PMT and PMS but don't get any now. Not bled for years either. It's been a godsend to me. Took me a few months before it got in my system though. Persevere with it, it gets better x

Try it for at least 6 months then ask to try a different brand if it doesn't settle down.

I seem sensitive to different brands. Supposedly the hormone content is the same in them all so why the manufacturer would make any difference I have no idea, but it does.

The hormone content is the same but each manufacturer will manufacture to a different product licence rule and the structure content may vary. Sometimes it’s the tablet coating.

I work in the pharma industry ..

Not meeting

I love norethisterone!! I took it for 6 months for a chemical induced menopause originally but have used it for holiday purposes too. GP’s are becoming reluctant to prescribe it for holiday use so be grateful x

Worst pill i ever took. No periods was the only upside but bad skin weight gain and acting like a dragon 6 days put of 7 wasnt worth it. Im now on dianette pill and its the best thing ever i wish i found it years ago.
