I've been looking at the home laser sets that they sell. They're not cheap, so I'm wondering if anyone has any experience of whether they're any good?

Can't speak for the hair removal, but if you believe Trump then North Korea may be selling a cheap death ray shortly.

I have the hand held Lumea IPL Hair Removal thingy and it’s the best thing i ever bought myself.

That's exactly the one I'm thinking of. Looks great if it works well but an expensive disappointment if it doesn't.

I guess it depends on the resilience of your hair follicles and which part of the body you have in mind.

These DIY kits are designed for feminine hair, which tend to be finer and less coarse or rugged than masculine hair.

I guess it will depend on your own body type.

The only effective hair removal I have come across is laser applied by a therapist in a salon.

There are parts of my body where a feminine DIY kit may well work. There are parts where I know it certainly won't because they do not have the strength.

I just stick with an epilator for the body.

It worked for me and lasts, and i’ve had the Laser Therapy at Hospital clinic that didn’t work at all (and that was £100 per session!!). I wish i’d tried it years ago (i had hormone issues which have resolved since i had kids).

I now do a once a month top up session but the hair is so much finer and less noticeable than it was previously so even that was an improvement.

I highly recommend. I have dark hair and pale skin (works best on dark hair i think).

Thank you both. It is the "for women" tag that makes me wary, it has some good reviews on-line but all from women.

I want it for my face really. I've been plucking with tweezers for about 18 months now which gives pretty good results but is time consuming and a pain trying to see what I'm doing. I looked into laser salons but they're very pricey for something that might last a year if that. Also they all say I would need to let the hair grow for a few days beforehand, which I really don't want to do.

I'm very tempted to try it. Plucking has made my hair a bit finer in regrowth and I do have dark hair/pale skin.

I tried a few salons over the years for the face.

The best by far was SK:N.

They did a discount for a block of six sessions.

Can't remember the name of the laser device, but it was very effective at killing dark hair.

One of the problems is that hair grows on a 7-year cycle. You may think the face is cleared, when suddenly one that's been dormant for years springs to life.

I moved onto electrolysis after that to kill the hair without any pigment. That was a different salon. I gave up when the orange peel effect started to occur.

Good for darker hair apparently. Don't know the effect on sensitive skin.

That's disheartening. May I ask, is it just it doesn't work for you or is there more to it than that?

Are you naturally blonde though? I think they say it works best on darker hair? I could be wrong though.
