You pay in advance for parking. You arrive at the car park to find it's full. You have a train to catch, and a decision to make; park considerately on restricted chevrons so you're not blocking, or go somewhere else but miss your train. You park on the chevrons and catch your train. You get a ticket (actually a civil parking charge - there is a difference apparently). Is it fair or unfair? Yes this is a swingers site not a parking/legal forum, but fuck it, live and let live, your thoughts are welcome, please. [haters - save your energy, no reply is best]

I've learnt sometimes it's cheaper to get a ticket than pay for or find parking in Edinburgh.

I'd appeal your ticket though . It's worth a shot. However I wouldn't stress over it

If their system allows this, then surely there should have been a space available ?

Thank you for replying, I will be appealing. Not stressing just fucking angry at the fraud of charging in advance then not providing a space. Just seems unfair. I am not a lawyer but I looked up the unfair contract terms act 1977 and am thinking of rejecting their invoice (that's effectively what it is) on the grounds that it is unfair. Anyway, rant over, thank you for replying!

Ringgo. You can pay in advance on Ringgo (cashless) just saves hassle when you get there plus you can't pay cash anymore, the machines have closed.

If it’s a private parking company, which I’m presuming it is. Then the whole ignore it advice doesn’t work anymore.

You need to contest the fine and present your evidence, I got a ticket back in August last year, they gave up on February this year after I put my case forward.

Id consider parking wrongly to catch something important too.

Don't let your emotions dictate how you respond to this ticket - follow good advice. You'd paid in good faith for parking, so weren't trying to get something for nothing.

Thank you. Yes its a private company, ACPOA, they seem to own a lot of the car parks round here. They had ticketed about 6 or 7 other people for the same thing, and I bet we'd all done the same thing, paid in advance in good faith only to find the car park full. Fuckers. I see it as fraud, although they will no doubt point to small print in our 'contract' to say I agreed to the terms.

Totally, that's exactly it. I will be very calm and considered, but I will reject the legitimacy of the charge /invoice. Apparently you should think twice about using their appeal process as this can mean you accept the legitimacy of the charge.
