Settlewick!

One for the ladies or the better end of the TV spectrum!

I'm looking to buy a basque or a corset but the sizes are a minefield, they all seem to be L,2XL,3XL etc

I'm a size 16 skirt and bra size 40b fits me, what size should I go for?

Where are you buying them from? Made to measure ones are much better quality (obviously) and I don’t think there’s that big a difference in price

You hang the two bows over the door handle. ...try and are sure it's shut...then walk away from the door ..hence tightening the straps for the hour glass figure

try looking for a steel boned corset

make sure its 2 sizes under what you are so you can pull it in

if your going for a leather one it needs adjusting one the fabric gets warm

If you get an underbust basque or corset its much easier to get them to fit. If you're ordering from China have a look at the size chart and choose accordingly.

I've had some really nice ones from Lovehoney (bonus is you get a year to return or did the last time we ordered). One of the best I had came from Primark and cost £8

Basques and cheap "corsets" usually have plastic boning and susceptible to snapping if tightened to tightly...

Usually sizing is in female sizes 10,12,14 or s,m,l etc.

Good Corsets have steel clasp fronts and spiral steel boning or flat steel boning.

Sizing is worked out in inches. 26,28,30 etc.

Dependant on the style will depend on what size suits.

You also have to consider how tight you wish to wear the corset.

If buying a god corset normal rule is 2-4inches less than your actual waist size i.e. a waist of 30inches would have a 28inch corset for light lacing or 26inch corset for tight lacing..

Underbust and wasp corsets are good to produce an hour glass shape to a straight up and down body type.

Overbust corsets really need to be fitted correctly and I would always recommend made to measure.

When wearing a corset they need to be broken in like new pair of shoes... as you wear a corset and lace over a period of time. It will take the shape of the wearer..

If you lace to tightly to quickly you will find your body aches around the kidneys over a very short period of time.

Try Corset Story UK. They have some amazing ones on there and you can get some great deals.
