I'm not really sure if I believe in the whole spirit/heaven thing, I guess I'll find out when I die.

It got me thinking though, would being a spirit be a good thing? Would it be frustrating just floating around out there with no body and no way to interact with people?

Would it be better or worse if the end was the end?

I think the essence of being a spirit is that you have unfinished business on earth, so that would make it a bit sad to be one maybe. I would rather it be the end.

That would be what some call an earthbound spirit I think. Usually someone who has died suddenly, violently or committed suicide. X

I think if the end is the end I.e. complete nothingness for eternity , then it seems a terrible waste that every memory , every laugh, every cry , everything you ever did is gone in an instant. It just seems so unfair , so I hope I live on in some form

Have you ever considered the possibility that our minds emotions memories egos and characters are just energy? And if the quantum physicists are right then energy is infinite and doesn't dissipate but recycles???

What if we're already spirits occupying physical form on a transient level as progress along a set path in evolution???

But anyway, I think I'd miss the interaction so I'm all for the physical form. It's much more pleasing to the mind body and spirit

I think a load of blokes in here share your frustration.

No tangible form and unable to interact with anyone

Can you imagine all eternity surrounded by self righteous religious types.

Eternity might sound good initially but just imagine a trillion years as a spirit in heaven with these people.I would be praying for death within months.

I think having an eternal form of your consciousness sounds like a recipe for insanity. It sounds awfully crowded as well.

At death the spirit you leaves the fleshly body, it is similiar in shape to your fleshly body, but made of finer purer matter..

You will miss your flesh body as it gave you feelings and sensations and other benefits which your spirit body does not have.

I find it meaningful and reassuring that this life is it. No gods, no afterlife, no immortal soul. When I die the atoms and stardust which make me, and which are almost as old as the universe itself, will be recycled to make other stuff. I find that very beautiful.
