People who block you on here because you said something in forums they didn’t like or agree with, are extremely judgemental and full of arrogance. Do you agree or disagree?

It’s just a way of filtering people you have nothing in common with isn’t it?

They may block because the OP is judgemental and arrogant ? Who knows ? It is a facility to be used, not for others to judge why they use it.

I just assume they don't like me. I don't reply to or post on threads started by those I know to have blocked me. It's simpler.

If you’re still able to see my profile you need to be worried

We have various reasons for blocking. Abusive messages, total dichotomy of views, or we just think the poster is a twat

Me too .. Although I have upset someone once and got a nasty message from her friend asking why I had blocked her.. She simply wasn't my type that's all. I did it just save me seeing her over and over again as she was local to me. I think twice now as her friend mentioned that they go to my local swinging club.

Disagree. Some people clash. I wouldn't think someone was arrogant for blocking me. It's handy in a way. I then know not to attempt to engage with them on the forums. Though I'm sure I've been blocked by some and just don't know it yet. I don't look on every profile on the forums

I block people i think aren't worth debating with. It's an easy way to check before responding to them. I used to block you but have since concluded you have a much better sense of humour than my initial impression. Hence the unblock. I find it staggering that people block me because of what I may have said on the forums . I’ve said it before , and it’s just pointless and futile , but if it makes them happy then who am I to take away their thunder ?

Don't care enough to think about it to be honest.

It's a non-issue. Maybe they disagree with something you said or just blocked you because they could.

"People who block you on here because you said something in forums they didn’t like or agree with, are extremely judgemental and full of arrogance. Do you agree or disagree?

I very often block forum members if I have left a comment I feel they won't like.....for example disagreeing with their opinion, telling them if I think they are being a dick or a cunt on a thread ect ect. Or if I find their comments offensive. The reason I do this is because I don't want a PM argument with anyone, I prefer to keep it to the forum. Also I definitely wouldn't want to meet them.

I haven't blocked the OP though, I,m rather partial to Bananas XXX

Dont think we have blocked from a forum post but no wonder single guys complain when your counterparts send messages without bothering to read at least the start of a profile (maybe they cant read)

Start chatting then midway through drop in a "instablock" comment.

Done this so many times....

I don’t see a problem with blocking people based on what they say or how they interact on the forums if they come across as someone that’s not your type of person for whatever reason. Surely it’s just another filter? I have blocked based on offensive comments posted towards others. I don’t want to interact with unpleasant people or people that can’t get their point over without being offensive. I’m a lover not a fighter!

Its pretty pointless blocking someone on the forums for a view they've posted as you can still see the shit they post.

I have blocked when people have started messaging nonsensical or privileged behaviour from the reply privately button on the forum.

I can understand blocking if you've had shitty messages from someone regarding the forums.

No. My understanding of judgemental is displaying signs of being adversely critical, fault-finding, condemnatory etc. Use use the word 'extremely' as well which imo indicats a pursuit of something, so implying they are pursusing a judgemental attitude towards someone. Again blocking someone doesn't display any of these definitions, No.

All it means is that they don't want you contacting them. That on here is most likely to be simply a filter.

My block list is huge and it's mostly based upon negativity, bad attitudes, angst, arrogance, plain stupidity, usually in a deliberate way on the forums to stir or cause trouble. That's not they type of person I want to meet or be associated with. I however love a good intelligent debate and not opposed to being disagreed with or hold opposing views without it being personal in any way.

People are free to block others for their own reasons. It saves time and effort further down the line, from receiving contact from others that they'd prefer no to. Accepting that not everyone wants to know or be contacts with everyone else is a fairly standard part of human life and the forum/Fab aren't any different.

Use time wisely, focus on where positive opportunity lies.

You can decide for yourself whether that makes me extremely judgemental and or arrogant.

Actually I did the same

Some people grow on you "

Indeed.

"I'm amazed people can be arsed to block people for some stuff they write on an internet forum. I certainly can't.

So am I. Those three clicks to block someone take so much time and effort, it’s a wonder anyone finds the willpower."

I suppose that you have to give enough credence to the opinion of somebody you've never met to bother to click on wherever you have to click to block that person.....

It's all a bit precious.

I assume it's because they don't want me looking at their profiles and judging or forming an opinion of them. It's usually the very opinionated, and argumentative people who block me, so I assume they don't want me to have an opinion of them.

Though, to juxtapose; is it any more precious than those who take issue with it.

Block and forget? Why would people who disagree with that approach let that bother them? Bit precious perhaps?

the gym and random places

I get blocked and I've not even spoke to people.

They message me a tirade of abuse then block me.

I only block someone who is unbelievably offensive or attacks me for no reason. I'm fast starting to block those who stand me up also.

I think the block button is sometimes used too frequently.... however each to their own

Think we all get blocked for one reason or another. I used to think it was a personal insult but now i see it as a way of people not getting a secondary message. Saves each party time.

"People are free to block others for their own reasons. It saves time and effort further down the line, from receiving contact from others that they'd prefer no to. Accepting that not everyone wants to know or be contacts with everyone else is a fairly standard part of human life and the forum/Fab aren't any different.

Use time wisely, focus on where positive opportunity lies."

Totally this

People have also been known to send snotty messages to others off the back of forum posts, blocking stops this.

We have blocked a few from the forums so we must judgemental and arrogant

For us, we only normally block folk that feel the need to pull others up about spelling/grammar as straight away we would never be no good for them and also if we find judgemental and arrogance is the norm for someone.

Or, more likely, you give it absolutely no credence whatsoever.

"I assume it's because they don't want me looking at their profiles and judging or forming an opinion of them."

It’s quite possible for people to form an opinion about me from my forum posts. I don’t particularly care what someone thinks of me if I Place no value on their opinion.

We used to get persistent messages from one bloke on here sending us the obligatory cock pics and warning us about the perils of visiting clubs. We are far too polite but after replying a couple of times he started getting arsey if we didn’t answer any further messages. He was our first and only block. We removed him from the block list yesterday and guess what, another cock pic. Blocked again

OP if you only interacted with those people on the forums, you would never know you had been blocked...

So you must be stalking the profile or sending PM's which could be the reason for getting blocked...

Look on the bright side, if everyone who didn't want to chat blocked you, that greatly improves your chances of getting a reply from those who do

"Its pretty pointless blocking someone on the forums for a view they've posted as you can still see the shit they post.

I have blocked when people have started messaging nonsensical or privileged behaviour from the reply privately button on the forum.

I can understand blocking if you've had shitty messages from someone regarding the forums.

"

This makes sense , there is a logic in doing this .

We block local people who we have no intention of meeting , and those people who arrange a time and a place to meet us , and then don’t show up .

If someone blocks someone for something they have posted on a forum , it’s a different story though . As you say , it can’t stop you having to read their posts , nor them from interacting on what you say on the forum . So what’s the point ?

And this goes back to the op , which asks if we thing it’s arrogant . Of course we will all see it differently , but my take is that if something he feels strongly enough that they want to exercise their right to block me for a forum post , fill your boots . Yes I think they’re being arrogant as in their mind they think they have some kind of upper hand or edge by doing so . For me , I don’t give one tiny little bit of a shit whether someone thinks I’m worthy of a block . Although I counter block , I think the majority who have blocked me may have me blocked for months before I know they’ve blocked me . I’ve way more important things to do than search every thread to see if anyone has blocked me . And when I do find someone who has blocked me , the fact that they did so means absolutely nothing to me , other than the fact that I will be wasting a few seconds of my time counter blocking them .

Threads such as this one are interesting to see how many on it have blocked . There’s a few that have , so they’ve been countered .

Well my definition of arrogant is someone who is full of their own importance , so by blocking someone and getting the upper hand or edge ( in their mind ) , over the person they’ve blocked gives then an inflated ego , which is another arrogant trait .

How would you define arrogance ?

I would agree that arrogance is defined by self-importance and superiority, but it doesn’t follow that the action of blocking someone is arrogant. Even if you allow the assumption that it is done to have some sort of upper hand, because it has prohibited one-to-one communication (which is an assumption you’ve made without any evidence) that’s still got nothing to do with an inflated ego.

It’s got quite a lot to do with your own insecurities about people’s reasons for blocking you, but it’s best not to project.

Ignoring the fact that this is not what the OP asked, what does it matter that you thought your comments were nice? If somebody doesn’t want you contacting them for any reason whatsoever, it’s up to them.

I do find it chuckle worthy when another man blocks me.

I'm not looking to meet men, so blocking me seems kind of pointless.

Especially if it's from a forum thread or post. Blocking doesn't stop you seeing their future posts, again, seems a little daft....

If I find I've been blocked I counter block. Ner Ner ne Ner Ner.

Anyone interested in the subject may want to download my International Best Selling Horror novel 'Dead Block'.

Basically everytime this SIngle Bi Fem on a swinging site blocks someone, they end up murdered soon after. She becomes the primie suspect in the killings. An online private detective (with an amazing heart shaped arse) is hired by her to go on the hunt for the killer and to prove her innocence... Will he find out her terrible secret... will he discover the real murderer... will he stop the next...

I disagree.

I block people who have messaged me and I don't want to meet. It saves a pointless dialogue starting up...

Like..

Them....meet me?

Me....too far away...

Them....I can come to you?...

Me....I don't host...

Them....Car sex?...

Me ..No thanks

Them.....Hotel?

Me....No sorry..

Ect...ect...

The block button I use for anyone I definitely don't want to meet for whatever reason.

The question posed by the op was about whether we think that being blocked for something we said on the forum . I’m only commenting with regard to that reason , and that reason alone .

I’ve already said we block for other reasons , just as most people do . But this thread is about blocking for something that’s been posted on the forum so to think I am insecure in looking for reasons why people block , on a thread that makes it clear what the reason is , is nonsensical . They block me for something I’ve said , I obviously know that , so there’s no insecurity there . They will no doubt have read the op ,as I have , and with any luck will only comment on the question in hand .

Yes, I’m well aware what is being discussed. However, you have assumed that the person blocking has some thoughts of ‘having the upper hand’. 1) You don’t know that, and 2) That still doesn’t constitute arrogance.

Then why would they happily converse with you in the forums if there blocked you? I find that weird "

I don't know you would have to ask them. I am not sure the OP is talking about people who block others and converse on the forum though. Maybe those people just block someone of your sex as a filter?

ST. AUSTELL, CORNWALL

If someone blocks me I will block back as no point in wasting each others time, I do use the notes facility and put the reason for it on there for future reference. It's a good tool to use.

Likewise I will block rude or abusive people and report. I have been known to block everyone from messaging when not meeting as I don't want to completely hide my profile.

I use it as a filter, particularly when people express opinions which mean that we definitely won’t get along. I can’t be expected to remember everything that’s said on fab, so I block to ensure that I don’t waste their time in the future and they don’t waste mine. It’s not about getting one up on anybody. Life’s too short to hang out with people you’re never going to get along with. Live and let live.

I got blocked today...bahha. ..but we won't speak on the forums again as this "so called calling out" should be stopped altogether as it is just one person making it obvious that they are intolerant to the others view

...now that would be a good change in just avoiding each other

I think it's been discussed above. It's not necessarily a case of being intolerant, but more a case if not wanting that person to know or see anything about you as you have differences.

I still debate with those I've blocked. The proof is in the pudding by virtue of the fact that they know they're blocked...they looked!

Being intolerant of others is an everyday occurrence...how you handle your response is what's important.

Click on the profile, you won't be able to see it if you're blocked, but you'll see a menu bar with an option to block if I recall correctly.

If someone has blocked me because they've took offence then I'm not fussed. It's a faceless stranger who has no impact or influence on my real life. So let them block if it makes them feel better.

"Well my definition of arrogant is someone who is full of their own importance , so by blocking someone and getting the upper hand or edge ( in their mind ) , over the person they’ve blocked gives then an inflated ego , which is another arrogant trait .

1) You don’t know that, and 2) That still doesn’t constitute arrogance."

That may be so , but my reference was to your last comment . That being your suggestion that ‘ it’s got quite a lot to do with my own insecurities about people blocking me ‘ .

Regrettably I’m unable to cut and paste bits from posts as I’m not very computer literate .

I've no idea who's blocked me as I rarely look at people profiles except for a very select few that interest me!.

The act of blocking is very presumptuous at best, I mean not EVERYBODY is interested in you

What’s your point, caller? That I know the definition of words and how to apply them?"

I think your two posts there are mutually exclusive.

In the first you say you don't understand the definition, in your second you say you do know the definition of words.

Which is it?

The main problem with a forum - and I do mean problem... main... forum... and mean! - is that you can never been 100% sure how the message is conveyed, and you’ll never be 100% sure how that message will be received.

When it comes to expressing views and opinions, you’ll always mix in emotion - and that clouds judgement. Even if you use facts, you will have a natural bias that you’ll edge ever so lightly towards (or heavily in some cases). Now combine that with how the message is received by the recipient? In a forum of 1000+ you will always find one or two people or profiles who will disagree with your post and will act accordingly.

Perhaps it is arrogance? Or perhaps your view is something they feel strongly about?

Celebrate humanity and diversity. Don’t get hung up on those that disagree - focus on those who agree, they will be the ones you’ll have much more fun and interaction with!

You really do have a problem with reading comprehension, don’t you? No, in the first one I said that I didn’t see how a certain action fits the definition of arrogance. Do you know why? Because it doesn’t.

Once again, for the umpteenth time, you’ve demonstrated an inability to understand basic points and follow a line of discussion, jumping in to make inaccurate stabs. But, somehow, I’m supposed to be the dickhead in all this.
