"Whatever date you start is entirely up to you and employer, if there’s a concern at potentially missing payroll processing if starting partially into the month and not getting the salary through till the month after (albeit the month and partial month amounts) then speak to your employer - most of you’re in that situation will be willing to transfer you a small upfront amount to tide you over. Employers typically will honour previously booked holiday too, so discuss this upfront so employer can do their best to cover it if it has any difficulty for them operationally. Your new employer is going to want to welcome you, just talk to them. Good luck. " Most if* (Excuse typos!)

"I know this is a odd platform to enquire about advice...... But .. Its been a long time since I,ve moved jobs. Been asked by my new employer " what date do I wish to start" I’m just about to start a new job. I’ve two weeks already booked off during the school holidays. your new company need to approve the holidays. Being paid monthly.....stating the Obvious is it best to say 1st of the month or middle of the month.? Any feed back would be good. Also if I have holiday already booked paid for later in year ,is it unreasonable for me to request this to be honoured ie 2 weeks . Awkward ... "
