I think it is still the Qatar Sovereign wealth fund that is the majority share holder for Sainsburys. After merger Walmart will own 40% of the shares and become the majority owner. | |||

And we have a laugh with the drivers. Low points - ordering 4 parsnips and receiving 4kg Ahhhh don't forger the tesco points - the thieving bastards next door (similar house name) accepting our delivery

Merger talks are ongoing between sainsburys and asda/Walmart and will need to be approved by the competition commission before it can go ahead. As an employee at one of these supermarkets we have been advised the earliest a merger will happen is September next year. | |||

All team leaders have either been made redundant or been forced to step down to colleague level and take a pay cut but they are still doing the same jobs. The management team has been cut too. Instead of several layers of management at each store and every department having it's own manager we now have just a store manager and section managers over several departments. There is now no day to day management of each department and things have started to descend into chaos already - the changed only came into force at the weekend! | |||

A friend was there for nine years and resigned after a new management team came in and made it uncomfortable for the longer serving and higher paid staff. Way of the world I guess? | |||

"So I take it working at Tesco hasn't got better since I had enough in 2006(!) then? Was on the night team on checkouts/trolleys. There were 9 of us, then one by one they left till there were just 3 of us, and no team leader or anyone with a management code, so anytime there was a problem we had to phone the duty manager. Then they did a massive refurbishment changing all the checkouts making them worse than before, each with huge bright lights above them that reflect onto your face. Someone said my face looked like the moon. That was the last straw and I was done. They didn't replace me either apparently, so the car park was just left as a huge mess of trolleys "Feck ya barmy fecker..you had me on the edge of my seat like iistenening to Frazerer from dad's army | |||
