Thank you for the input x" First thing to do is accept the feelings. You will feel isolated and think 'No one can feel this bad' but like anxiety you have to first accept what your feeling, as trying to block something out...yes you guessed it, makes you think about it more. Just like when a loved one passes away, there's a natural grieving process. At the time it's horrible, but but by but the feelings are not so profound. Don't tell yourself I don't want to feel like sh$t, but that you know you will, but in time you will feel better. That's the first part, excepting the feeling, not fighting it. Then you need to try and keep yourself busy..a hobby, cleaning, friends..going for a walk. You may not feel like it, and not motivated but exercise releases the endorphins in bring that increases the feeling if well-being. This was the single biggest thing that helped me some years ago going through a stressful period. Didn't want to go, but leaving the gym I felt that little bit better that when I walked in. You will be able to eat and sleep far better. Hope you get through it. If you need a chat, then message me. And I do only mean a chat. Sometimes someone you don't know can be far easier. | |||

"Im going through a hugely depressing, stressful time and have been for a while. Doc has put me on medication but its to soon to work yet, im awaiting councelling but sorting that out has been very stressful ! Doc has also put me on the sick and i have stopped doing the things that were causing the stress, that has been difficult to do but im putting me first at the moment. I am also going for walks in a country park, gardening, reading more and taking nice trips with hubby. Sitting in my garden listening to the birds and the gentle noises of village life going on around me has been helpful too. I have also been visiting my local club just to relax in the hot tub and chat to people. Im still very low so its not helping much yet but i will keep trying." "Write stuff down so if gets it out of my head. During a particularly awful break up I wrote several letters/emails containing all my feelings that were never sent anywhere but they helped clear my head and allowed me to sleep a bit better. Running or exercise also helps as it's me time. I can put the world to rights while pounding the pavement. Talking to people helps too. I know you don't want to be a burden but you won't be if they are truly friends. Alternatively talking to strangers Dan be very therapeutic as you don't have to be careful in what you say fir fear of it getting out. Try the samaritans. Everyone thinks they are just for suicidal people but actually they are just there to listen. " Food for thought there... thanks | |||

"Yeh I’m riding that same stress train at the moment, just changed roll into a managerial which bough on a lot of a work load, split with daughters mum and now having to find a place to live as living back at parents is not ideal for long term.... I started looking into meditation which in a quiet environment can help calm the mind but my true go to lately has been a good sit down the beach for an hour but of music watching the waves pass just using that as feelings and stress just washing away.... Mini essay sorry but you will find the right thing for you hopefully just trial and error I found :D chin up chicken, how you feel today won’t be the same as tomorrow or next week" I'm so sorry you're going through this. Sadly I am a long way from a beach so that isn't doable for me, but maybe I can find somewhere quiet to escape to I know I will get through it, my parents will make sure of that if I don't, but it's a very isolating thing and frustrating as hell | |||

I too suffer with stress and anxiety and last year it all came to ahead and I ended up having a breakdown. I won't go into too much detail but I was so busy taking care of everyone else and fulfilling their needs that I forgot about myself. I'm on the mend now as I've finally started putting myself first instead of last without feeling guilty. Obviously I'm always going to have issues but that's just how I am,I worry about silly things and worry about things that may never even happen,I just can't help it! I hope you take onboard some of the comments on here and take good care of yourself and talk about how you feel with someone you trust or a professional as it does help. I never spoke to no one and bottled everything up for months and months and I didn't realise it at the time but I was a ticking time bomb and eventually I got to the breaking point,hence the breakdown. That tight feeling across your chest, feeling sick, wanting to cry; they are all natural reactions and once it was explained to me why it happens I was far more able to cope. Best advice I ever heard was, give yourself the same patience and understanding that you would give to anybody else. For what it's worth, I cope with stress with music... listening to it, playing it, and definitely dancing to it. And walking, I find walking miles is very therapeutic. And writing. I might get some hints to make my transition through it a bit easier Don't beat yourself up over it or expect yourself to cope wonderfully with it all. Best advice I ever heard was, give yourself the same patience and understanding that you would give to anybody else. For what it's worth, I cope with stress with music... listening to it, playing it, and definitely dancing to it. And walking, I find walking miles is very therapeutic. And writing.
