This stems from a comment I have seen on another thread.

A fella said he just CANNOT leave the scene and you know what... I agree with him.

My mate made me laugh the other night. We were watching ‘Homeland’ and (for those that haven’t seen it) the main character (a Muslim American soldier) was being held captive in a tower block in South America and spotted his salvation... a mosque.. and ran to it. My mate piped up ‘that’d be you if you spotted a swingers club’ lol

She’s right though... I’m working away soon and I thought... I won’t be alone in the strange city... some fellow swingers will look after me and meet me for drinks (as if they were jehovahs witnesses or something. Lol... but I appreciate Maybe it’s easier meeting with being a woman)

Anyway. Question is... anyone else feel ‘addicted’ like the lifestyle is ‘exactly for them’... I can’t imagine life without it

I couldn't imagine life without it, wouldn't say I'm addicted, but it's a part of who I am, so I'd always feel that there was something missing

Bollox, I'll confess I am! I'm not really that active in the "scene" but this fills gaps and ticks boxes and somehow keeps a little thrill and spice in my life.

Definitely know what you mean OP.. i love the lifestyle and the people and everything that goes with it. Can’t imagine walking away from the scene now after so long.. it might not be for everyone but it’s definitely my cup of latte

I've met some amazing people, had a laugh. Made connections with people who I wouldn't of necessarily met in a vanilla world.

For me it's another way to socialise, if it leads to fwb situation great, if not then I get to meet new people

Addicted to the forums possibly as I do spend a lot of time reading and commenting. I'm not really in this lifestyle to start with though so I could easily leave tomorrow if I found a nice gentleman.

For us it’s more just something extra that we do and enjoy rather than something that defines us or we’re addicted to.

Maybe we’re not proper swingers as we mostly only like to play with single ladies. I’m not sure we’d even describe ourselves as swingers as much as an adventurous couple. If that definition even makes sense?

We like a high end club or private party for a classy night out but there aren’t any around by us so it’s more something we’ll occasionally do when travelling, but again it’s only when the mood takes and not something we will specifically look for week in week out.

Well half the forum weren't swingers to start with, so obviously they aren't addicted. I do think for actual swingers, swinging pushes your excitement threshold past a level that monogamy can fulfil (in most cases).

I've tried giving this lifestyle up, I lasted 25 months then just had to come back. I think if it's truly 'in you' then you can't give it up. I love Dec far too much.

I think it can become addictive, you send out a couple of messages to peoples whose profile takes your fancy and then spend the rest of the day looking at your phone every 15 minutes to see if you've had a reply.

I even put the phone down then picked it up 1 minute later !

So I changed and don't let it rule my life now

As somebody said above, this is just an occasional added extra to our marriage. If we have a bad experience, or either of us get bored or lose interest, we'll easily knock it on the head and say "Remember when we used to..."
