Putting myself out there...

So after quite a few insistent pep talks from friends I've signed up to that matching site.

So far I've learnt that my place on the shelf is likely to remain.

I'm not what anyone is actually looking for.

I'm not slim or attractive, I'm divorced and I have children.

I scrolled through profiles for a good couple of hours and not one that I thought was ok wanted someone like me!

I might actually have to take up a hobby!

I would use the scatter gun approach and register on the 3 other major sites/apps.

They're all slightly different and all free...

You might get to like one of them.

Good luck x

It’s a buyers market, the question is what are you looking for?

If you spend too much time searching for someone, you'll never find them

Don't fret about negatives, focus on doing things that make you happy and the right person will turn up eventually

I hear stamp collecting is good

The point is that they're all a little different and one might work better than another

She’s still young why not go to the pub instead of digital dating which is a bit like eBay

I’d say the hobby is a better idea. I hope you haven’t paid for the site. I’ve been on all sites going. Found dating sites to be like a mail order family. Found it works for all my single kid less friends though. Spend your time having fun else where. An remember there is nothing wrong with you

Seem to remember the retort was "self pity" is an ugly trait when a man posted some similar recently!

Because it wasn’t the first one of the type that he’d posted. Next!

Is online your only access to men OP? Could you go out with some friends and meet someone that way? Oh and a hobby might actually give you access to meeting new men in the flesh.... I will say, your pictures are lovely. So I'm surprised that you are struggling on that match site

Or because she's a poor little woman who needs sympathy and tissues?

I think it's a convenient option. My friends are all coupled up and have busy lives too, when we go out men are the last thing on my mind. We are too busy dancing round our handbags.

Plus I'm not confident enough to approach someone I might like the look of. I'm also oblivious if anyone is flirting with me!

Also it's unlikely I'll meet anyone through work.

I'm really not seeking sympathy, I was aiming for humour.

I've been single a very long time now (9 years) and I genuinely don't want to be anymore.

I suppose I'm also trying to prove I can be more to someone than just a bit of fun.

Dating sites are the same as FAB - except you pay more for it and get less out of it! The quality of talent is no different to here!

The ratios are the other way round on dating sites. You need to put the effort in the get results.

You need to stop putting yourself down and find some self confidence. From what I can see you look gorgeous. Get out there and her some fun.

I would work on your profiles on the other sites. Get some good pics and write a decent one. On a site where there are probably girls a lot hotter with no baggage and a decent profile ....an average.. girl next door will get overlooked x

Couldn't agree more. If you don't feel you're good enough, it won't happen. And you're definitely good enough! x

I'd wager that, contrary to you what you think, you are exactly what someone is looking for!

You are not the only person who is divorced with children, many people are and it hasn't been an obstacle for them.

You say you aren't slim or attractive, but to whom? You may be surprised by the number of people that think the opposite. Try sending the 1st message, be brave. Fortune favours the brave.

Good luck though, I'm sure when you least expect it someone will make your tummy flutter
