I'm thinking of renting my spare double room out for a bit of extra cash.

Just looking for any advice or pros and cons from people who have done the same thing and more importantly, how did you find the tenant and how did it work out?

I do also have kids at mine pretty much every weekend and I do work away a lot

I’ve been doing it for years. Get a lodger contract in place and trust your instincts when interviewing.

Where do you find your tenants?

Plymouth and Newcastle (sometimes)

Any big projects or construction going on by you? Someone working away from home looking for weekday lodging and goes home for the weekend giving you your house back for the kids might be an idea...Most pay in cash too

hiding from cock pics.

I have a female friend, with two children at home, she rents via airbnb and have people staying almost constantly. She does very well out of it and never has had any problems.

The problem with that is, I work away a lot so won't always be around to collect and hand out keys

You can use sites like fivenights if you just want weekday lodgers- people working in the area, mostly. That way you have the backup of the site, plus your weekends are your own
