Self pity

I think self pity is the worst of all personality traits, I’ve seen it on here with certain users and nothing irritates me more than someone feeling sorry for there self continually.

Do you agree it’s the worst trait or do you think there are other more annoying ones ?

It depends when there's a serious need I get it although it's not a place I'd go I'm way to head strong but everyone deals with things differently and I know if somebody is really struggling especially mentally the absolute worst thing you can ever say is pull yourself together.

Personally I think liers are way worse.

I don’t know if it’s the worst, but it’s certainly darned irksome. Especially so when the self pitier asks for advice and rejects every single suggestion with an even more self-pitying excuse. I like to help people, but after a while even I have to fight the urge to say ‘oh just sod off and be miserable then’

I think it depends if it a genuine feeling or if they are doing it for sympathy.

As highheels said it can become tiresome if they aren't willing to change things for themselves although I appreciate in some cases it can be hard or feel impossible for them.

I find narcissistic people worse.

I had this yesterday with someone, I was trying all I could to help them, in the end I thought fuck it, cause it just drags you down as well.

.

I was going to reply to a post on another thread about it but changed my mind, Partly because everyone has their own reasons for being that way, But I don't think they realise that most people are thinking

"Yes I know its not the first time you have posted about it"

When you see a particular thread you know who is going to post and what they are going to say before you have even looked at it,

I worked with someone like that for for a while and I could only handle a few days at a time with him, He had so much negativity about himself and everyone else it actually rubbed of on me and would put me in a foul mood for hours

Are you allowed self pity if you face palmed the pavement on Monday and seriously hurt yourself?

Self pity is something I think everyone experiences from time to time. However some people who constantly wallow in it are frustrating

Self pity is a difficult one, i will admit. First you pity them, try to boost them up, to make them feel better about themselves, then become frustrated when they still wallow. I do feel sorry for ones who have so little self esteem, but my impatience takes over from that pity, unfortunately
