"Hi all. Any hard rockers and heavy metallists on here? Love the power and energy from good quality rock and heavy sounds, plus the occasional sweeping ballad!! My favourite band since I was 12 years old is Black Sabbath. Lost count how many times I saw Motorhead live! Can't beat some Zeppelin, Judas Priest, RUSH, Queensryche, Thin Lizzy, and Slayer etc. Later likes include Rotting Christ and Rammstein among others. I enjoy all kinds of music, pop, electronica, blues, classical but a metalhead at heart!! What about you? And any new rock music recommendations? All the best.. " Right here

" Sabs with Gillan we’re on at the Reading fest too, surprisingly good and wow LOUD!!!!" Born Again is an under-rated album. Ok, it's not Ozzy-era style but heavy as hell and some great playing from Iommi, and Gillan is on top form especially on the title track. Didn't see this line up live but wished I did!!

" iommi wasn’t very charitable about him after he left which I felt was unfair, tyr and headless cross tours were great, and better albums than Dehumaniser" Yep, Martin is almost whitewashed from Iommi's memoirs other than to criticise Tony's stagecraft which is a shame because, as you say, Martin did some great vocal work on those albums, and the pair of them came up with some cracking songs. Maybe Iommi was already hankering for a Dio reunion then!

"lucky enough to see them every uk tour since Signals, and made the wise with hindsight choice to do th Glasgow clockwork angels gig which was their final show over here. Incredible band " ...I would have killed to see the Signals tour. Years after, and having caught up with the RUSH output, turns out Signals was to become my favourite album from the band!

Not often I desire to live in the US but they used to get tours for every album

" limited opportunity as only toured once but they were excellent. Agree Born Again a cracker, albeit favourite Sabs albums are Vol 4 and Heaven and Hell. Lucky enough to have seen them with Ozz Dio Gillan and the very undrrrated Tony Martin Your get no arguments from me on Vol.4 and Heaven and Hell. Nor with Tony Martin. Saw him several times on the Headless Cross tour, and a few times after promoting other allbums. Powerful voice!...years before I saw him in a band supporting Magnum. I kinda took note and then he turns up in Sabbath!!" The band he was in whilst supporting Magnum were called The Alliance

" Loving it..... just found JP once again. The car is rocking and not in the fab sense.

My most recent ex is going to be there, and her breaking us up was pretty crushing, so presuming I do go, I'm going to be watching out and avoiding her. Last time that happened, I was an emotional wreck by the Sunday. I have been roped into helping with the FL munch again. Not sure if there will be enough people from here going to amalgamate the two groups into one d*unk supergroup

Pantera, Five Finger Death Punch, System of a Down, Rammstein (also good music to play to!) I've never liked Five Finger Death Punch except for two songs I just recently heard: The Pride and their cover of Bad Company. They're good songs to go running to. Agreed on Bad Company It's such a good cover. I'll sing along to most songs but the moment that one comes on I go into full Bill and Ted mode, until I get told to shut up headbanging. Rock on, fella. I had Pantera blasting at our wedding and I was hairspinning and everything I love it whenever Smells Like Teen Spirit or Numb comes on in a nightclub because everyone goes wild, even if they don't particularly like that kind of music. I love rock music because I've found that it brings people together. You can be jumping around with your friends to Nirvana and somehow a group of people you don't know end up joining your group to dance to it." Truth!!

"I grew up with 3 older sisters throughout the 70s / 80s who were all into metal / rock. I can remember as far back as '72 and hearing Sabbath and Zep, my yougest sister took me to the Ruskin Arms in '80 when i was 11! My earliest memory of Maiden...and it went on from there really. The last few years I've got more and more into Scandy Death Metal but my gym workout is always with Slipknot. Today I have been listening to the String Trios by Beethoven...go figure!! \M/ " I listen to classical all the time. There seems to be a deep, perhaps odd, connection between rock and the classics. Each seemingly at either end of the musical spectrum but linked. Maybe it's to do with the gravitas, the epic nature, and the construction of each ? Don't know, but I'm sure Alan 'fluff' Freeman knew!

I find listening to Mozart gives me the same buzz, rush whatever you want to call it as Motorhead. His frantic notes are as pulverizing as anything Priest have done!

" Wagner is the obvious choice in terms of 'heavy' but I gave this some thought (I was lost for something to do!) and I think the common theme is, and I'm no expert(!), is both rock and classical can be 'majestic' whether the music is fast, slow, heavy, brooding, deep, ballad-like, and majestic suggests something 'epic' and that seems to fit both musical genres. For example, I find Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata just as majestic as Ace of Spades, if that makes any sense at all. Phew, that's my brain done for the night!

" I think they’re a band hampered by putting out albums with 13-14 tracks that are “pretty good” when, with some judicious editing, they could out a 10-track belter. Same applies to the last Maiden album, out out an ok double that could have been an outstanding single album. That’s the curse of CDs showing, all of a sudden bands felt they had to fill 70 odd minutes and quality (to me anyway) dropped. Quicker is always better, so I tell the wife

Hear what you are saying about 'quicker', too!!..just over two minutes of Blitzkrieg Bop by The Ramones is more than ample..
