Absolutely agree.

Seems normal for producers now to just pick a random 70s, 80s film that was good at the time and then expect it will be a box office hit.

The Fog - Awful remake of Carpenter’s classic. Nightmare On Elm Street - No Robert England = No Freddy.

Basically any horror remake with Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes as the production company equates to shite.

Somewhere In The Ether…

The Karate Kid remake.

Ok where to begin......well for starters the title was erroneous straight off the bat as in this version the (annoying as all hell!) kid is clearly studying Kung Fu as opposed to Karate.

I suppose at least it had Jackie Chan in it (in fact he was the only good thing in it!)

Actually a couple that weren't bad that come to mind - The Taking Of Pelham 123 and Cape Fear not better than the originals but not woeful either.

I also heard that the remake of The Magnificent Seven wasn't bad either.

One that surprised me as I was up in arms when it was announced was the recent Dad's Army film that actually wasn't bad and showed a lot of respect to the original series.

I don't think I've ever watched a remake. I just won't do it. Its lazy filmaking. I know Peter Jackson remade King Kong, and I usually like Peter Jacksons films. I thought about watching it, because frankly the original was pants. Then I found out Jack Black was in it and that stopped ne in my tracks. Jack Black...a man so desperate to emulate John Belushi but fails at every turn. He's mire like a lightweight Meatloaf.

"I’ve not seen anyone put jumanji yet, I’m yet to see it, felt this could be going the same route ? Is it better or as good as first any thoughts ? I like rock and Kevin heart films normally though

I enjoyed it much more than the original"

it isn't a remake, it's part 2

Horsham

I know it is not a remake as such, but mad max fury road is awful.

Death race, I know the first one was bad but the remake was much worse.

"Virtually every foreign language film that's ever had a Hollywood remake. Old Boy springs instantly to mind "

A Fistful of Dollars, The Departed and Reservoir Dogs are probably the notable exceptions

Apparently, it’s set to be directed by Max Landis, the original directors (John Landis) son and the titular role this time will be female.

I can’t say that I’m particularly stoked to put it mildly
