Did you know?

I found out recently on Springwatch that the stereotypical owl call 'toowit-towhoo' is actually two birds (Tawny Owls). The 'toowit' is one owl calling out and the 'towhoo' is the second owl answering.

You learn a new thing every day.

Is that what you'd call "badgering"?

Yes, he or she is a regular visitor. The problem is it keeps getting the greenhouse and knocking things over or digging big holes in the ground. Quite rightly it assumes its ok to do this.

Oh cool I don't get anything more exciting than a chicken from the allotments at the end of the garden in mine and that was pretty exciting at the time for myself and my daughter. Not the wrecking thing's mind that's not cool that's annoying I'm sure.

Been trying for years, they're like little bulldozers and they're creatures of habit. Block one bole and they just make another.

It's a minor annoyance but we respect that he or she is probably following a path that its ancestors trod for centuries. I wish there was a way to tell it we're happy for it to use the garden as long as it doesn't do damage.

If you look out of our bedroom window at about 9 pm you will see a vixen and her four cubs playing on our lawn. It's like a safari park round here sometimes

Oh sod that then I don't want that. I used to get lots of squirrels in my last home I liked that. They didn't seem to realise the bird seed wasn't for them though.

In Sussex it was rabbits but at least you can fence them out, here it's badgers. Sometimes a little less wildlife would be nice.

Aww that's sweet though. I went to pick my daughter up yesterday and a bird and her little tiny chicks came out from the field infront of my car. Mum obviously had no road sense whatsoever and was dicing death with her little one's. I had to flash the van coming so he didn't squish them.

On our regular summer trips to Lyme Regis i often have to stop the car to allow a family of ducks to cross the road from a farm to their duck pond.

I think it's good where possible and practical to make allowances for wild life, except rats and fleas .

A bit off track but we used to live in a town that had a market charter since the 12th century. They built new houses beside it and people tried to get it closed because of the smell. .

What?! That's awful,I would have been mortified if I had driven over them. The road was really quiet and just up the road from a junction so no fast drivers there was no danger to others. If the guy on the other side hadn't stopped I would have slapped him when he stopped at the junction.

My sister had a friend once and they both live close to the countryside. One day her friend was taking her two little girl's to school along the country lanes as normal, only that morning all of a sudden there was some bird's in the road. She swerved to avoid them and crashed. Nobody went home that day.
