I got a job in what turned out to be a job with a lot of office politics. I had I think two or three other interviews lined up and told my boss on the the second or third time, as he asked why I needed the time off. His response was to put me on extended probation as I was clearly not dedicated to the position.

Found myself in a situation where 3 interviews led to 3 offers. Worked it so I got the highest pay on offer for the best job with a simple phone call.

So go for it, unless that interview is in your first week of work

Go to the other interviews. You’ll be more relaxed knowing you have a job offer in the bag for starters.

Also if you interview and impress them - the door is always open in the future. If you cancel, they may never ask you back.

I'd go to the others too, but....

I've been in the lucky position where you are before and been offered two positions three times. I took the jobs with the best pay each time and hated each job I took.

I may well have bad judgement, but make very close observation of the working environment and judge how happy your colleagues seem to be (when people look at you do they do so furtively, are people smiling etc).

Not wanting to put a downer on you, but money isn't everything...

Assuming the jobs are similar, the way to do it is pick the job you want and ask them to match the highest pay you are offered.

been offered a pension scheme. 2% of wages i think. Is it worth having a pension. don't know much about them

Most definitely yes. If a company is putting in 2% it’s better than nothing. You can collate all the small pensions when the time comes & transfer them into an annuity or something similar. It’s all an added extra to the State Pension for when you retire.

Oh & if you then opt of your company pension scheme & transfer it you can access the cash at 55. I’m doing just that - got a nice tax free lump sum & retiring soon by living off the annuity till the State Pension kicks in at 67!

weigh up the pros and cons..

lifes for living not working .

salary obviously high up there but not if its 70 hours a week including weekends and bank holidays

commutings tiring and expensive

could be better off on the rock and roll

id say yes , go to all the job interviews

I’m not aware of any savings account where you can take small amounts of £5k & turn it into £50k overnight. Do that with say 4 or 5 of these pensions from various jobs & your £50k pot suddenly becomes much bigger than £50k.

You’ll need a pensions advisor who’ll take a small slice as their fee, but it’s worth it.

Or you could just stick with the small amounts from the various pensions, but either way... a pension (even one of 2% of your salary) will be a nest egg for the future.
