Is it just me or are talent shows like x factor and Britain's got talent a complete lie?

I don't bother watching these shows as it's sad that some people out there believe that anyone can achieve fame by applying for these contests. I reckon out of all the people who go to the pre-auditions, only 5% make it through to the main auditions and the other 95% are professionals fasttracked by talent scouts.

As for the 5%, only the 1% has talent while the 4% are just put through to be laughed at and ridiculed for ratings. So if this is to be true, people who audition only have a 1% chance of going through to the main auditions.

I'm sure there are people out there who have dreams but applying onto these shows won't get them there. If they want to achieve their dreams, it takes hard work.

I would think Sudan Boyle was one of the 5% that was put through. The rest were probably picked by talent scouts

I just watched it. It doesn't say anything new. No one says it's about the contestants but people do achieve fame.

It's always been a business.

It's true that it's not about the contestants. I just don't like that it just plain lies to people.

London

I'm a professional performer and was asked every year for four years to go on BGT until I told them to politely eff off. I know a lot of people who've been on it, many made it to the semi finals but never win because the pros are usually used as filler. And their career doesn't benefit from it. Might get a spike in their social media but little else.

The show is manipulated and produced so we feel for the underdog, the sob story, the average Joe or Josephine. That's showbiz!

The format has run it's course now but it's cheap to make and despite numbers being not what they were, gonna be a around for a bit longer

Very interesting insight. This is why I would never go on these shows as they basically turn you into a puppet
