Any advice for getting a perfect flick on eyeliner? I'm really rubbish at it.

Thanks

First of all you need a good liquid liner, with a felt pen type tip. I use one by Stila x

I've watched YouTube videos too. .

I'm sure I saw one that you could just stamp on but I can't have because it would only work on one eye .

I’ve seen the stamps too! I’m sure you can buy stencils, swear I’ve seen them in primark. My eyes are different shaped, so I can get one eye semi-okay, and the other is a train wreck!

I recommend Rimmel exaggerate eyeliner, pen tip and easier to hold than the actual pens. I wear a liquid liner cat eye every day and it’s the easiest one I’ve found to use, and even though it’s a cheap brand it lasts all day

Hmm we can't both have imagined it .

I'll have a search later.

I need to be a bit careful because thick eyeliner on an older face can look harsh so I want to be able to do a very fine line.

Do you have shaped eyebrows? I used to draw small lines along my eyelid from the inner corner to the arch of my brow where I take the line up a bit, then back down and flick it out in line with the end of my brow. It’s second nature now, it takes me seconds but it took me years to practise. Or if you’re more confident with a pencil, draw it with a pencil first and then go over it with liquid

I agree that a felt tip pen is much easier than pencil for a sharp line. I’m still a bit messy sometimes but if you keep cotton buds on hand it’s easy to fix mistakes and straighten lines up. I actually got mine tattooed on but that might be a bit extreme if you’re just trying it out lol

As people have said, liquid is the way forward, and practice.

Do your eyes first before your foundation etc, and have loads of cotton buds to hand to help correct mistakes.

Tits or arse? Accentuate one but not both at the same time is my philosophy. Get your liner good, just let your other features take prominence. Others look less than we do at ourselves - if they did we'd call them out for staring.

Pull something that's really transfixing - your choice.

yes it might be. When my friend was qualifying as a beauty therapist I was her guinea pig. She got eyelash dye on my face when she was tinting them and I had to put up with it for ages until it wore off. A tattoo would be worse lol

I never wear foundation anyway, can't bear it on my skin. If its going to involve too much trial and error I'll probably give it a miss though.

I find that the pen tip ones don't work for me, the tip isn't very flexible, I use liquid eyeliner and find it a lot easier maybe try a few and see what you're more comfortable with and also it sounds silly but using some form of tape to line up where you want the flick to be helps and saves on mess

I like a slanted eyeliner brush and a pot of gel liner (maybelline do a good one). Seems more forgiving of mistakes, and flexible for line thickness.

If it gets frustrating aiming for perfection, think 'sisters, not twins'

Foundation and powder is needed on your eyelids to stop the liner ‘slipping’ as it removes the greasiness.

I prefer to do my liner before my eyeshadow. Then mistakes are easier to remove and start a fresh. I just go over the lines at the end if I want to darken them.

Try using a nail file from the side of your nostril to the end of your eyebrow line - that’s the line for your flick.

I find a liquid liner with a brush is best for the flick and a liquid pen for drawing across my eyelids. If it’s too harsh, gently rub dark brown eyeshadow across the line.

I have days where I surrender and cry!

That sounds like my kind of thing. Is it coming from China? I won't expect a report for six months

Ha ha, not quite, but it was 20 years ago and you don’t seem to retain the skill of applying liquid winged eyeliner quite like you do riding a bike

I can do this effect on other people (my sister is always asking me to do her eye make up) but on myself.... noooooooooope ....

I end up looking like a toddler has been let loose on my face with a box of crayola

"Following this thread. My 14 year old sister does my makeup for me! She can do a double winged liner too. Says she watched YouTube videos!!! I’m hopeless

Hmm we can't both have imagined it .

I'll have a search later.

I need to be a bit careful because thick eyeliner on an older face can look harsh so I want to be able to do a very fine line."

If you search pin-trest the stamps are on there. They come in 3 diffrent thickness too. There about 8.00 i think. Each image has a link to the site you can order from. Im bit dubiouse as eyes are all diffrent so not sure if they would look great on everyone. I have the stencils too. They are not that good tbh. I have large eyes but a small head so find the stencils too long. Pdacticly end up with the wing in my hair line ( amusing as hell if im not in a rush to get ready lol)

Hope this may be useful info for you xx

"Never mind eyeliner what about mascara lol xxx"

Mascara I can do with no problem. I find it helps to hold a mirror at an angle that requires you to look up.

"Put this on whilst you apply the make up

Crush With Eyeliner

R.E.M.

I know you

I know you've seen her

She's a sad tomato

She's three miles of bad road

Walking down the street

Will I never meet her?

She's a real woman-child

Oh, my kiss breath turpentine

I am smitten

I'm the real thing (I'm the real thing)

Have you seen her come around?

My crush with eyeliner.......

Well I'm definitely a sad tomato so it might help. "

As long as you don’t have turpentine breath

I only drink turpentine if White Lightening isn't available...

Gardening is much more satisfying than putting on make up.
