We went to the states for a meet, granted we turned it into a holiday and had a few weeks there, but main purpose was to see one of our friends.

I suggest it's because they want to see your sexy pics in your Profile; not because they don't realise that meeting is (almost) impossible. I sometimes do it the other way around & view (or chat online/live) with FAB members in other countries. Take it as a compliment & respond with a message.
