"I think tattoos are a bit of a marmite topic, they tend to divide opinion. I’m not a fan. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a body and thought it looks better for having a tattoo. And sometimes I think they really detract from the beauty of the body. But that’s just me. What do you think? " I'm with you vine!

"I had my tattoos for no other reason than I wanted them and I like them. I do like when they get complemented but that was never a motivation in having them and I certainly don#t worry that people might dislike them" It's obviously a very personal thing and wouldn't stop us meeting someone with tattoos

"I got mine because I like them, not because I care if someone will find me any more attractive /unattractive for having them. " That’s why I ask about most tattoos, I love the stories or the thought behind them. I can even accept the passion of a football tattoo, but there are some horrid examples. A tribal tatto is as good as another tribal. But I’m not going to remember them as much as one which someone can enhance its appeal with a small tale. You know?

If I'd known then at 18, what I know now they wouldn't have been done. But as an over excited teenager with my own money I just got whatever flash I liked at the time. Not too many thankfully. "I like to think I’m changing peoples preconceived opinion about peeps with tattoos. Like judge me not my art " I think you've made a good point here. My tattoos are black and grey, quite big visible designs. I think people expect me to be rude and nasty because of them. I'm probably one of the most scrupulously polite people you'll ever meet. (Doesn't come over in my profile I know lol) I think you still get a lot of judgement for having both tattoos and piercings. Also the comment about quality and suitability is bang on. You feel you have to compliment people even if it's shit. I try to just not say anything. My sister got the crappiest lion ever done. She loves it though.

" I tend to agree, can't say I ever think tattoos improve someone and wouldn't have one myself. That being said I can look past them if they aren't too extreme and if I otherwise really like someone. They do tend to be one of the things I use as a filter when searching on fab though, particularly if more heavily tattooed.

" Wouldn't disagree that they can be appreciated as pieces of art in their own right and personally that's how I would prefer to see them, on a piece of canvas. Tattoos are on a body, become part of the body. So it's only reasonable that people will look at them and consider them in the context of the whole body and whether it makes it more or less attractive. Just the same as you would a new haircut, you don't consider it in isolation but whether it makes the person more attractive to you or not.

"No tats on me Actually quite like good body art on a female. Are some amazing tats nowadays, however nearly all are stencils, so no real talent apart from going round lines and filling in. The free hand artists or the Japanese painted female body wow, sometimes mind blowing. " The originals are still their own work, let’s not forget that.

"Do u inkers not have health concerns about the ink? Given most inks are inks from auto industries paints and the black and darl blue inks are full of lead. Thats why tattoos fade...the ink collect elsewhere in body..and given the heavy metal content of inks. Thats why when see athletes or people who claim diet and exercise so important...yet body covered in lead. Don't get it. What make you look better?" I’m guessing, as with most things, there would need to be a certain amount of lead to cause any poisoning. You could say the same about aluminium in deodorant or petroleum in creams.
