watching Westlife sing 'flying without wings' on BBC1

Cant believe they are coming to an end.

What was 'your' band/group that you grew up with that you were devastated when you heard the news they'd be no more?

I was pretty devastated when my Mum died, a pop group splitting up isn't a truly devastating thing - is it? Z

I said, "actually, I think you mean 'Who buys this?'"

Given the manufactured nature of westlife they're not so much breaking up as being disassembled

not until they tour and release a greatest hits album tho

before the inevitable reunion tour in 5 years

Well in the nature of how this thread was intended and not taking every word as literal:

I was pretty shocked when Freddie Mercury died and I realised that there would be no more live performances from the great showman.

I was pretty shocked about Michael Jackson too.

Oh and the Smiths

B ut the music lives on doesn't it and there's always something else to take its place

Oh are we only allowed to state groups that have split but are still alive.

Ill just have to go with my Smiths then .....

Reply privatelyReply in forumReply +quote

I have been saddened when some groups have split but never devastated. but have watched tv news footage from bands as diverse as The Beatles, The rolling Stones, The Smiths, and many others with fans hysterically crying, making pilgrimages to the places valid to their idols and generally thinking its the end of their existance.

So Sassy sorry I havent but its not an unusual thing for someone to be devastated when a band splits up. Life does go on though.

Pretty much like the Republic of Irelands tiger (false) economy and Magners cider.

Yep, Westlife are to music, what Magers cider is to real cider....marketing pish.

Although I did fancy the blonde one out of b*witched something rotten back in 2000
