" We are a band that did originals a few years ago and got very well known but as we got older decided to do covers and pub gigs but we've decided to be more creative again and record just for us, for our own satisfaction. I'd just like some ideas as I'm only a guitar player and can make a good tune but shit at writing lyrics. When I used to write, many years ago... what we would do is start with kind of a basic story overview. So if you want to base it on swinging, you could start by narrowing it down to a smaller part of the lifestyle (eg... the story of a happy swinging couple, of maybe about the never successful single guy). That makes sense, but it really is hard to write lyrics that will fit with some music without hearing the music.
When I used to write, many years ago... what we would do is start with kind of a basic story overview.
