Someone makes a comment on a thread, you go to view there profile and they’ve blocked you, they live miles away and you’ve had no previous contact with. Seems to happen quite a lot!

I block people if I have made a comment I don't think they will like disagreeing with their opinion or if I feel their post is not very nice. I don't want to get into conflict via PM what's said on the forum should stay on forum. It's not my loss at all.

I haven't blocked the OP though.

If I disagree with someone's views, or dislike something someone has said, then I'll block. Saves ever accidentally getting into a private conversation with that person.

I'm sure I've been blocked for the same reasons as well at some point.

I've noticed this too, I used to counter block but can't be arsed now. I think it's just their way of saying "fuck you". If someone's a dick on the forum I don't block, just leave a wee note on their profile

The forums are a good idiot gauge. Idiots get blocked so you never talk to them privately or if they post something else annoying in the future, and in the meantime you've forgotten they're an idiot, you can click on their profile and be reminded they're just an idiot.

No it means they have blocked you or the account is suspended. Preferences set just means you can't message them. You can view everyone on site unless they have specifically blocked you.

No, that’s for sending a message, you can still view the profile, blocked is you can’t even see the profile.

That's a filter, not a block. With filters you can see the profile but not message. When they block a specific profile their profile can't be viewed.

The Block button can also be used as a self destruct button...ie. you block someone so that they counter block and thus you can not message them any more no matter how much you want you.....you just know that continuous messaging with that person is not healthy....for they are just being kind to you....

A block is a block and clearly states it! I block many people for many reasons if I don't like a comment in the forum or status update I will block that person because they are of no interest to me and I do not wish to hear from them in a pm nor have them view my profile and make comments via the forums, simple

Yes you still see their forum posts, I don't know why they do this if you have blocked someone and you're in a chat room you do not see the comments which is a better way I think I wish they would do it here

But if someone did block us because of a comment in the forums it would not bother us..they are probably mard arses those types them keep coming and going with new accounts every five minutes

That's just it.

Yeah, block those you've interacted with but not going to meet ever so there's no further contact I get that. Blocking someone whose comments you don't like is like saying 'I don't like that so you're not allowed to look at me now' I just find that funny tbh, it's not like you can't see their future posts.

Yes you still see their forum posts, I don't know why they do this if you have blocked someone and you're in a chat room you do not see the comments which is a better way I think I wish they would do it here"

I think most folk have 2 profiles, I have but they are both looking for different things, but it is handy when folk get arsey, and also when you get the identical cut and pasted message it's a good filter

Thing is it doesn't have to be as a result of something you've said - some people block others because they've viewed a profile at some point and are not a match for their preferences and it then stops the blocked profile coming up in searches etc

For example I know of a couple of profiles (that I've never had contact with) that have blocked me because they don't meet bisexual men - I only found this out because they said so in a forum post not about me specifically but about how they use the site.

It's no skin off my nose that they do that and saves me contacting them unnecessarily.

As for the thinking that not being able to see forum posts from people you've blocked is a good idea - it'd make for a very disjointed forum with a lot of threads not making a great deal of sense - and how do you deal with when someone who you haven't blocked quotes someone you have blocked?

The chat room is slightly different though as it's more immediate and real time, with a temporary feel to any posts, so can imagine not a great deal would be lost by not being able to see someones posts.

The forums however are more permanent and threads evolve over hours, days or even longer so could read very disjointedly if some posts were not visible. Not to mention put a totally different spin and meaning on someone you could see's posts if you couldn't see what they were responding to.

I wouldn't know - I can't see their profile remember!!

Although arguably that would depend on how far they travel for meets.

Either way, as I said, it doesn't bother me in the slightest if or why I've been blocked unless it's someone I had been talking to and built a connection with who does it out of the blue and without any obvious reason and even then it would be mild irritation and curiosity as to why tham anything else in most cases.

"Thing is it doesn't have to be as a result of something you've said - some people block others because they've viewed a profile at some point and are not a match for their preferences and it then stops the blocked profile coming up in searches etc

For example I know of a couple of profiles (that I've never had contact with) that have blocked me because they don't meet bisexual men - I only found this out because they said so in a forum post not about me specifically but about how they use the site.

It's no skin off my nose that they do that and saves me contacting them unnecessarily.

As for the thinking that not being able to see forum posts from people you've blocked is a good idea - it'd make for a very disjointed forum with a lot of threads not making a great deal of sense - and how do you deal with when someone who you haven't blocked quotes someone you have blocked?

Are you near enough for them to meet?

They might have hit the button by mistake... It seems to happen a lot when it comes to friend request... So it is not too far fetched to infer that it may happen to the block button as well

I've noticed the odd person I have never interacted with and am never likely to has blocked me. It just makes my evil twin giggle cos we've obviously gotten under their skin and irritated them in some way!

They don't realise you can view them from your other hidden profile

Do people often try and take disagreements/arguments out side of the forum via pm's? Genuine question as I have never experiance it.

Also surely it's less effort to block someone if they send you PM rather than blocking everyone of the forum you think may try and PM you on the of chance they actually do?

Good point ... a lot of people comment in one thread though ... and sometimes the conversation gets out of time order ... the odd hiccup is easy to catch up on I think x

What you have to ask yourself, is not why you're blocked, but why it's bothered you, and why you even looked?

I've blocked a few. It's not a childish retort at them( I doubt they know). It's my profile, I'll use the site as I wish, and if I wish to restrict interaction with others it's no big deal.

Use the site as you see fit, and let others do so too.

I used to think like that as all my blocks come from stuff said in the forum. Yes I know they can still see what I post but I don't want them looking at my profile or pictures so they can slag off my appearance.

I was confused as to why this happened until I twigged it was probably down to a comment or two I may of made in the forum...
