I find shifting some weights in the gym a great way to de-stress. When I then started seeing some gains, the gym became addictive!

Don't need to go to the gym. My work gives me a good workout being quite physical. Can think of nothing more boring than sitting on a stationary bike, a treadmill or lifting weights. Rather be out in the fresh air working. But I suppose if you work in an office in the middle of a city, you have to work with what there is. You can be fit without being 'gym fit'. Although of course the meaning on here means more than one thing. So definitely not 'gym fit' in either meaning.

You may not need to go to the gym however I think you will find that an active job does not equate to or usually improve heart fitness and muscle balance ,

Improving Heart fitness gives a human the best chance to avoid many common plausibly avoidable illness,

Muscle strength and flexibility balance is vital in preventing minimising, future joint and muscle pain as one ages

If an active job is repetitive then one muscle group, quads, right lat , left anterior deltoid , will pull disproportionately upon the body and WILL CAUSE pain and discomfort

Heart health usually needs to be pushed using a variety of techniques , work does not usually raise the heart to the correct levels x

Me I advocate balance , I work actively, do outdoor sports and use the gym xxx

Here is mine. I have started doing full body workouts, it is my 8th week doing it and I like this style of training instead of split training, 3 times a week, 8 excercizes with 1 excersize per muscle group each time, it gives you more protein syntesize recovery time with better results, you should just tap into the muscles slightly not destrying them.

I like to periodize my training by increasing the weight or reps every 2 weeks in the 12 week program

I get asked if I go to the gym a lot, never stepped foot in one ever. I walk my dog probably 5-8 miles a day, plank and squat and have a big garden to look after. That is more than enough to keep me fit and sane

Very true, but that depends on your job. Mine is quite varied, using many different muscles in a day. While I understand fitness equates to many aspects of health as does healthy eating, I don't feel the need to go to the gym to be 'toned'. I haven't had an illness, aside from a cold and on occasion, although not for many years, the flu. None of which I would classify as an illness. Admittedly I do not often raise my heart level to where it is racing, but it does happen. Of course I could drop dead tomorrow of a heart attack, but so could someone who regularly goes to the gym. I would also suggest that someone who repetitively uses weights or does a repetitive work out would stand as much chance getting muscle pain etc. Personally I just don't see the need to go to the gym. For those that do, have the body that they want from spending time doing repetitive exercise, then good luck to them. I'm happy with how I am.

If I'm not on tomorrow, maybe you have a point!

Or maybe I just became bored.
