Do you take the string off before you cook it or afterwards?

Off before. Tastes of plastic otherwise.

Hillside desolate

I take it off afterwards. Its there to hold it all together and keep it from spreading and the juices from drying out. That's my theory anyway!

Always before - instructions remove all packaging

Beef needs to be stringed together though

Yeah, but use proper string for beef, not that elasticated stuff

Afterwards but it always seems like a bloody trial from The Krypton Factor to remove it though!

Depends if you want the tampax in or out, you'll struggle to remove it if you cut the string

I don’t think I’ve ever had a chicken with plastic string. It’s always been normal string.
