North Bucks

Not seen it but saw a review in the paper about how well it was portrayed.

It highlighted to me what a huge problem Male suicide is currently.

it’s with a wry smile these days. It was a long time ago. I never forgot him though. I’ve got a photo of his arm round my shoulder because my mum was a lousy photographer. Death is part of life.

So sad but so important to raise awareness I’m so sorry for anyone who has lost someone to suicide I’ve never experienced it but have wanted to do it many times, there is always a way out people are listening

Unfortunalty i know to many people who have committed suicide. The closest was my sisters partner of 7 years who she met when she was 17. He was many years older than her and was devoted to her. He was diagnosed with cancer and did what he believed to be the best option

It was very powerful stuff and a bit hard to watch for me as it took me back to some very dark places, but the more we encourage people to talk the better.

I'm glad I don't watch it.

I'm from Bridgend and lost 19 people that way. Even had the pleasure of cleaning one up off a railway line.

My cousin done it when he was 20 and honestly don't know why he done it other than stupidity and following the trend of hanging yourself. Ruined my aunt.

Yes, I'm glad I didn't watch it. I've had to walk out of the cinema so many times because I can't handle any thing to do with suicide.

It's good to raise awareness though, it's more common in men than you think.

The episode was great! The acting and filming was very well done and also David Platt coming clean about the male r*pe. Both subjects are rarely covered, but affect so many.

Fabs won't let me type the r word!

You would think a site for adults that they wouldn't censor us from talking about the real world. Ffs I tried to type rap.eseed field and it wouldn't let me last week. Oh those fields such a horrible word

Suicide 6233 people committed suicide in uk in 2015, the greatest percentage of these were men between 40-44

People who commit suicide are not "stupid", nobody knows someone's mental health or inner demons and I think it's fantastic that Corrie have tried to raise awareness of this.

Many, many years ago when I broke my neck, I attempted suicide which fortunately failed as it was my wake up call to seek professional help.

Whilst I still have occasional "dark times", I now know how to deal with it and manage it the best I can til it passes

We lost Ads cousin on the 5th Dec 2016, I couldn’t watch it as my best friend also took her life on the 10th June last year too. It’s all still very raw but hear it was done really well in terms of the aftermath etc.

Geeky x

Hitchin

Haven’t watched the episode tbh I don’t watch any soaps... but I have heard about it and glad this topic is finally being covered.

As part of my job I have to deal with a lot of people with various mental health issues and have been to my fair share of suicide and suicide attempts. Some of the circumstances are shocking... it’s sometimes hard to see how people got themselves into some situations. And for them to see suicide as the only way out.

I have been fortunate to not have lost anybody close to me... it’s different seeing things that you are emotionally unattached from.

I like how the soaps are now covering "taboo" topics. But, I hadn't watched corrie for about a month an heard on the radio what happened. I googled it and it said Aiden had been suffering with depression for months, but I wouldn't have thought it as they hadn't shown anything previously. If it had been David I would have completely understood. Both storylines are good ones to get out, but feel like Aiden's was rushed.

Shayne Ward was on This Morning talking about it and they were showing all the build up to it, the subtle signs that you don’t really notice but that they have been dropping in. I think it had more of an impact because you didn’t see it coming, like many suicides in real life everything is fine and normal until you’re hit with it.
