suffolk

Now the dark nights are here nothing better than some winter warmer foods.

Tucking into a fishfinger sandwich, with a some ketchup - yummy

then snuggle up in my PJ's in front of the TV.

Bit of House, Vampire Diaries or Greys Anatomy

Whats your fav ?

The last one i bought was ready sliced so just popped it in the dish. But i know what you mean not easy to prepare. I dont coat mine in flour it goes in the oven with bacon and onions and stock.

Smoked fish I believe. I seem to remember Billy Connolly going to a specific place on the East Coast of Scotland where stovies are a speciality. Cant tell you what fish they are but it could be herring.

Shepherd's pie was already mentioned but personally I prefer Cottage pie.

Mulligatawny soup... with loads and loads of toast cut into soldiers.

A spicy Ruby from the my favourite takeaway.

Hot chocolate with marshmallows on top.

That's Arbroath smokies.

Stovies are potatoes, onions, left over roast beef, corned beef or mince

As no one has mentioned two of my favourites yet, I love toad in the hole with big fat pork sausages part cooked in a big dish then covered in batter- they have to be cooked like this not seperately- and with lots of thick gravy, peas and creamy mash mmmm.

The other is my lasagne, cooked the prevoius day- for some reason the bolognese sauce is always better tasting if its had 24 hours to infuse, with a crisp simple salad of leaves and tomatoes and garlic bread mmmm!

Just had a three day feed of a big pork joint slow cooked in cider and herbs...

First day it was a roast with crackling and all the usual trimmins. Second day it became a stew with dumplings and the usual. The last day it was another scrumptious plateful... just delicious.

With Billy Connolly`s accent, it`s hardly any wonder that this half deaf country _umpkin got it wrong!
