I have an old Renault 19 convertible and yep has lots.of.milesge on the clock but it's great in summer when hood comes down and also for taking larger items to the skip. Hope it lasts a fair few more years. it's.not something I see as important really as long as it's useful

Hubby and I both drive older cars. Mine is an 02 plate mx5 which is great fun. His is a 52 plate Octavia estate which is the workhorse.

We don’t need flashy, expensive cars. We’ve got the best of everything, fun and utility, with the cars that we’ve got

Then after I divorced someone gave me a Focus 2.0 l Ghia. It went like the clappers for 13 years and never let me down, and I bloody love my little turbo Fiesta now!

Being penniless for a while gives you a good sense of perspective.

I sold my 2001 plate in 2011, regretted it massively and now have a 2014. Still missed the ride and shape of my 2001, so bought a 2003, so now have 2.

Would love a classic too again at some point. Last time I had a classic it was my daily driver, ice on the insides of the windows, oh the joy ha ha

A few years ago now, I used to rebuild VW Beetles and I never owned one which was less than about 20years old - now I have a Nissan Juke, so I wouldn't say that qualifies me as a car snob - although I would draw the line and something like a Dacia Duster

Had our Discovery 300Tdi a few years now, it's done 191k and never really let's us down although it's in the garage almost monthly for odd jobs (it is 22 years old)

we dont need to slow down for Potholes

Hubby has a 02 volvo v70 234 thousand miles on her and still going strong. Full leather and heated seats. He loves it. Regular does 400 mile journeys and arrives fresh and relaxed. It's all about being happy with what you have. He loves it big space inside crap turning circle but its ex plod so goes like stink. He loves seeing the faces on people with modern sports cars being left behind when they are driving like a idiot lol

Taken years to get the car of my dreams and its 2nd one as loved the first one so much had to have a new one .. I am happy driving it that's all I care about not what others think .. I feel safe that's all I care about when I have my family and babies in my car . Roads around here so small and the 4/4 is high and I AM HAPPY.

A BMW 335d for when I want to effortlessly cruise to work or a long distance drive.

A Renault Megane Renaultsport RS250, nicely tuned for when I want to drive like my hairs on fire.

Neither are new but I love them both for different reasons.

I have a 93 Honda Accord and am quite happy with it. It gets me to where I need to go reliably and still looks quite nice-- all that I need. Fancy or expensive cars have never been of interest to me. Cars are just another tool to me.

On the one hand I'd love something really cool, but in reality as a family, we need sensible, safe, economical and don't have the budget to blow huge amounts on cars.

But yes, gimme that lottery win and I'd have a few really nice cars. Most people probably would.

I also REALLY use mine - as in I drive them until they expire. I love familiarity with the stuff I use - cars, cameras, gadgets, clothes.

I certainly don't begrudge, envy or look down my nose at people with nice cars (reverse snobbery). Good for them. It's their money and their choice what they spend it on.

This sounds like me. Don't really care for cars but I have had a few old ones but it's been constant trip to the garage. So I was starting to wonder if they are worth it...

I am now also considering a 3 years old car and nothing older. Apparently an S class is very comfortable and I might get that. It's but not because I am a car snob. It's because I want to be able to go up North without worrying or go to the garage every 2 weeks

Very, very tempted to go and get a Nissan GTR as a play thing however, I know that wouldn't go down too well at home.

At under 4000 miles a year we are more than happy to keep our 18 year old focus. Has recently passed its mot for the 4 year in a row without any work being required. Gets checked for the usual fluids and the regular tyre pressures. Its a little tatty but nothing untoward given its age. 118000 total mileage

My eight year old Focus is lovely to drive. Feels like complete luxury compared to the old banger it replaced (in reality it's just an average Focus but she drives well and touch wood hasn't had any major problems). Can't say I hold anything against people who have nice cars. If they have the money then go for it.

Literally in love with it, remapped to 262 bhp and corners like it's rails.

I like to see all the young boys in their VXR's and the like sat in a McDonald's car park revving

engines and talking to each other through the windows. I find a space right in the middle of them and rev the fook outta it.. Soon puts there 1.2 with the ridiculous exhaust to shame

Except a VXR is a 1.6 turbo and is also most likely remapped if it’s got an after market exhaust and would have no trouble seeing a 2.5 ST off

Not car snobs, we are car enthusiasts though.

We own cars within our means, we've had better cars, we've had worse cars, we've done fun, practical, fast, economical, and complete shit boxes.

Hubby currently owns my old corsa sri (wally) which he uses as a workhorse, its cheap to tax, economic, cheap to maintain, run and insure. I have a clio 197 (rudy), its not as cheap to tax, it returns all of 26mpg, not so cheap to maintain, run or insure - but it handles better than any of the cars I've driven to date, not too shabby on acceleration either, just high revving and low geared.

I like to see all the young boys in their VXR's and the like sat in a McDonald's car park revving

engines and talking to each other through the windows. I find a space right in the middle of them and rev the fook outta it.. Soon puts there 1.2 with the ridiculous exhaust to shame

Except a VXR is a 1.6 turbo and is also most likely remapped if it’s got an after market exhaust and would have no trouble seeing a 2.5 ST off

I was speaking in general terms, hence saying VXR's and the like.. I was having a friendly bit of banter, no need for the pedantic police!

I had an Alfa 147 Selespeed. Most beautiful car I have owned but Jesus it was terrible. I bought it new, it needed a new engine 2 years later (thank god for manufacturers warranty), and at every service and MOT it had it cost me £££££.

I wasn’t doing massive amounts of mileage either. Still loved it but couldn’t afford to keep paying out for it in the end. Broke my heart when I traded it in. Then a couple of months later I saw someone driving it, fag hanging out of their mouth, looking like a right ned. I was gutted!!

I was really into the Renault Sport Clios - had a 182, 197 and 200 over the years (all Cup versions). I definitely agree with the high revving/low geared comment on the 197 - first and second are pretty much redundant

. When they came out with the flappy-paddle 200 with the terrible reviews, I switched over to a Fiesta ST3 and I love it. Great performance, cheap to run and most of the extras you could possibly want

You’re thinking of the overfinch sport. Trust me this one is not just about styling. It’s lighter and more powerful, would say on a track it’ll hit 200. Plus only 25 made so highly likely to be worth a damn site more in a few years time

I probably am a bit of a car snob, massive petrol head, took me 17 years from passing my test to owning the car of my dreams. I won’t give details as it’s quite unique and I like my anonymity. But it’s far from new 2005, not made any more. 41000 on the clock, probably spent more on modifications than I did on the car. But think fast and furious. I just love the fact that Nothing will catch it, and I mean Nothing. Great when you come up against a supercar and leave it standing, always puts a smile on my face when I have £20k up against £250k !!!!!

I don’t have a problem with any cars or peoples choices apart from 2...............

Cracks me up when Massive roidheads leave the gym and hop into a really girly car like a 206cc or smart car or fiat 500 (which seems to be normal around here)

The only other one is when you see a 20 stone lady in a Chevrolet matiz, nipples literally rubbing the steering wheel, and arms squished up against the window! Sorry but I really don’t understand.

My brother-in-law had a 2015 ordered what he thought was a st3 from Ford and when it was delivered it was an st1 turned out he read st 3 door as st3 he wasn't a happy bunny however I have to agree it was a bloody good car. He bought the new focus rs last year and he it's been problem after problem and not worth the 34k price tag and now wishes he got another fiesta st with a revo 3 as would of been a better all rounder!

It's been 9 years since I had a decent car. I had a 06 plate Nissan 350Z for 2 years back in 2007-2009 and I loved it (not everyone's taste) but fuck it could shift and back then there weren't many if any in my area and I loved driving it. Even up until I was 6 months pregnant and had to roll out the side to get out!

Ex services vehicles.

Any one else like me ever bought ex emergency vehicles?

On my 2nd first responder. This one remap, chip, bigger turbo...is lots vids on youtube of the car speeding through city streets on ambulance calls.

Was in press when came out, as was the fastest first responder car from that part of the country.

Have actually owned two ex traffic cop cars, an ex cid car, but ambulances tend to be best apart from holes in dash etc, but they replace turbo and brakes every 6 months, cars get over hauled lot, up graded breaks to like Porsche brakes. Actually all the volvos are ford focus running gear and chassis now, unless you buy before 2004 its not a volvo anymore..its basically a badged ford...which is why slow and shite now.

My first car was a Citroen 2CV, and had a freak of an engine that allowed it to go off the clock on the flat (80mph, as clocked by someone driving next to me)

Living in Milton Keynes, I'd get boy racers pull up next to me in their tarted up Nova, revving their engine and screeching away from the lights, as if it was an achievement to beat a 2CV off the line...

400 yards later though, they'd get to a speedbump and have to slow down to a crawl, at which point I'd overtake them, because whatever speed you could get up To, you could take a speedbump at.

The look on their face was always priceless

RR main dealers charge around £180 per hour.

Just be aware that say your electronic handbrake fails the independent garage may not know that they have to recalibrate the brakes once new unit installed.

If the don't it will fail and cost you around £1400.

It strips the rear discs and pads if it locks on.

We know as it happened to ours a week after we bought it.

Other than warranty work Main dealers are not worth bothering with.

I looked at replacing the rear shocks on my civic as they are starting to weep ever so slightly, £180 to buy or nearly £600 from Honda

I'm embarrassed to say it took me over 20 years to bother passing my test and I've now got a 1 litre Corsa bought with cash. Nothing flash, just one owner, 44k miles and it runs perfectly and does me for 2 hours a day commuting to and from work.

It's all about economy for me and trying to stay as eco-friendly as possible.

Having had to go back to public transport recently I'm amazed I coped for so long as it's absolutely shocking!!!

Despite getting a new Vauxhall corsa 67 plate mid jan this year, I still don’t want to get rid of my ‘05 Renault Clio (still not done 75k miles, still has original clutch and exhaust)

My Clio has turned into a project car as I’ve had things done on it like:

Sunroof re-sealed (as it was leaking)

Undersealed, etc

Mainly trying to maintain the car better.

I only use the Clio to go to work and back home (like a 6mile total journey).

The Corsa is used for everything else.

I must be crazy to run 2 cars

I have a black, 15 year old gen 7 toyota celica that i've named "Ayrton" that's been my faithful companion on many a long road trip. I wouldn't change it for anything, even if it does seem old school compared to newer cars. Plus, it just screams "me"

Definitely not a car snob here! My first and only car my little 06 fiesta which ive had for 2 years it hasnt let me down once! Most relaible car ever. Although now has a gearbox oil leak so she is off to visit the scrapyard as not worth the repair.

I've not been in the other half's Mondeo for six months. Not because I'm a snob, but because I'd feel like Stig of the dump in it.

He's a heating engineer, a horder and it's his work vehicle. Nearly all the cars on our road have been broken/attempted into apart from his...can't imagine why!
