Well done MsGivesWood. As far as I'm aware i don't have any living relatives with services connections, other than dad doing national service. I believe that one of dad's elder brothers was a paratrooper in ww2, and one of my grandfathers was at the somme. Don't know any details.

However it is a national disgrace how this country treats ex servicemen. In my opinion nobody in government should have a penny pension money while there are people coming back from war who are not properly looked after. When there are lads and lasses who are ready to give up health and their very lives in the conflicts that our politicians have involved us in, it is disgraceful that the politicians do not give everything in return.

"what about fire service/NHS staff/and civil servants?? dont they also serve their country??"

They do serve this country in some form and apart from the mentioned Fire Service, who may have to face some danger, this feed and in my opinion, is to pay homage to those who came back home to their families and the many that didn’t.

Please don’t compare the Civil Servant role to the Women and Men that served the frontline and those that supported that frontline.

You get ex wives but once a marine always a marine ??"

2 types of marines

Serving and no longer serving, never an ex marine.

Respect, never served as a marine, but served alongside plenty.

"Great thread op.

Just a shame that you lot weren't around yesterday when a guy got a shit load of abuse for saying he was an army officer and looking for a meet!!

I can only assume the thread got taken down because of the abuse? "

Looks like posts have been taken off, so wrong of people to derail a thread like that.

But generally won't meet forces folk. Having grew up around on military bases and serving myself, not the biggest fan.

Snap however I love ex army ladies. Know where you stand. Generally they like to feel like they've won. Kinda like a mix of fighting and fucking lol

Unless you served your own queen and country first then no. And by that please understand I'm not dismissing your service at all. Had the legion as the entire left flank crossing from Kuwait to Iraq. Had flights booked and cancelled last min (bloody women) but that was after a 12yr infantry career for my own country. However had I gone I certainly wouldn't have come back to the UK with the resettlement package that the legion offer. Did you do your minimum 5yr or Jack early?

I was in the US Navy for 8yrs, saw the world and had a excellent time. While I was in, we attacked Lybia (back in '86), we captured some terrorists, and went to over 30 countries. I recommend that everyone due their duty and serve!!
