Heimdal is dead. Loki is dead. The 1/2 who turned to ash at the end will obviously come back.

The interesting one is Gamora. They gave us a young Gamora scene and brought her back in that weird 'Stone Gem' Otherworld scene at the end. She's coming back isn't she? She's too important to Peter Quill and GotGv3. Isn't she?

They are filming Spiderman 2 and he's supposed to be gone. It was a great effective moment but you don't kill off half of your best money makers in one go. And of course, there's a time stone knocking about.

I personally loved it! 10 years of build up to it!

Nice touch with explaining what happened to Red Skull. Obviously would of liked Hugo Weaving to come back, but the other guy did a good job. I liked the idea that he could never get to the Soul stone because he doesn’t love anything.

Looking forward to the epic final battle with Thanos!

I don't think there's any plans for a 4th movie for cap, iron man and Thor, so cutting the cast down let's them have more time in what could be their last outings for at least a while

Theory:

I was really interested in that dimension that seems to be connected with the Soul Stone i.e. where Thanos met child Gamora. Someone on Tumblr pointed out that we should look at who died and who didn't:

Presumed dead: Loki, Heimdal, Gamora, Strange, Peter Parker, Mantis, Drax, Quill, Groot, T'Challa, Sam, Maria, Nick Fury, Wanda, Bucky

Presumed alive: Cap, Tony, Rhodey, Thor, Widow, Rocket, Shuri, Nebula, Wong, Hawkeye, Bruce, Okoye, Scott .... maybe Captain Marvel based on the post-credits??

All the people on the Presumed Dead list have ended up that Soul Dimension. And is it just a coincidence that pretty much everyone with magical/mystical/psychic type powers is on that list? And that the people on the Presumed Alive list are the technical/mechanical geniuses?

It looks like next time Thanos could face a battle waged on two fronts - magical/psychic attack from the dead and technological from the living. You're saying that Strange saw all those possible futures and didn't try to push things towards the only one that succeeds? That way Thanos faces a threat that might actually defeat him. We also get closure on those that remain dead and they may even find a way to bring back some of them.

According to Wikipedia, Avengers 4 is already in post-production but isn't due for release for another year. In the meantime we've got Ant-Man 2 in July, though I believe it's set before Infinity War, then Captain Marvel (set in the 90s) in March.

An interesting theory. The death by dust is supposed to be random but maybe the combination of the stones has an 'algorithm' for the randomness that takes out the mystical/magical. I'm not sure about them ending up in the soul dimension as they haven't died, as such, but have been rendered as non-existent. I have to ponder that some more.

Thanos goes back to a young Gamora because that is when she loved him and that love could be his undoing.

Dr Strange definitely knew what he was doing, saw he needed Tony to stay alive to win in the end.

I think only Gamora is in the soul stone. I think she knows more about it and how the gauntlet works. I think what happens in Antman ie going to the quantum realm might come into play.

There was another thread running I gave a detailed review of my opinion .

I am a huge fan of films with a darker more adult content can't stand the early Disney style good always wins over a very diluted evil films.

So after seeing this I was pleased that they didn't try to dial it down to much.

I thought that possibly it should have been longer as some of the storylines were a little rushed but not massively so.

Disappointed in the thanos CGI considering how good most of the other cgi was.

Didn't like banner in the silly hulkbuster ,in my opinion that is in film purely for toy sales purpose.

Overall it's a good film and leaves lot's of questions and people theorising about part 2, which is great marketing.

However I am much more of a a judge dredd, Deadpool and spawn fan.

2012 Dredd is one of the most underrated sci fi films in a long time. I think if it was really released or released now it would have done much better and definitely get the sequel it deserves.

Anyway back to Marvel.

Infinity war a good solid 8/10 possibly a nine ropey CGI is a big letdown.

Thanos is a pawn in a bigger plan. My theory is that Galactus is behind this. It's his modus operandi. Interesting way to bring the FF into the MCU. None of the ash dead are dead. Hawkwye will play a pivotal role in Avengers 4.

The gothy dark version tho, but it would kind of end thing's as the one is undefeatable.

If evey hero and villian in the MCU joined forces from every film,every character good bad or neutral they wouldn't even be able to make a scratch.

One theory I like and makes a lot of sense is, when people turned to ash thry didn't know until it started to HAPPEN....EXCEPT for Spiderman. He knew something was wrong and it was his Spidey sense telling him so.

My favourite part was...

I know it doesn't translate well in print but in the cinema it was hilarious

I suspect you're right. Galactus appeared in the Fantastic 4 Silver Surfer movie, so the odds are that the film rights to the Galactus character are part of the F4 deal, and Marvel Studios don't own them.

In the source material it is but you won't see it in the movies, at least not in this storyline. The Disney/Fox deal hasn't been finalised yet so 20th Century Fox still own the film rights to all Fantastic 4 characters (and X-Men too)

I loved the film, but the ending was kind of cheap because we know some of them will be back. It was hard watching Peter die, but it would have been more impactful if the original Avengers died.
