I have two silk shirts that are too big and a pair of pale suede trousers that are too small. I'm woefully unimaginative has anyone got any ideas for upcycling?

Wait until you have enough silk shirts to make a parachute. You can use the suade trousers as a make shift chamois for the car.

Oh then pop a post on asking if anyone has any ideas about upcycling a parachute.

That's a brilliant idea.

I was just going to suggest some cushion covers with the suede. I saw some the other day as was very tempted to buy one. You'll need a leather needle, though.

That is an excellent idea. My sewing machine won't sew the suede but I could glue or sew by hand.

I think I'd need a thing to punch holes too. Cushions is a great idea, I could possibly get a bag and a cushion out of them

Absolutely! Just YouTube making a bag from old denim jeans. Denim has to be as tough as suede to stitch/glue

Don't think that would work, think it's better that the needle is made of metal

They seem to get loads of money for decidedly 'niche' things on that programme. It's my day off guilty pleasure.

I think I'll stitch the seams and glue the bits that fold over on to the lining.

Why not take what you don't want to a charity shop? I volunteer at one of them, and we get loads of great clothes/ shoes and handbags being brought in to us. Also, for anyone who is starting to transition, it's cheaper to buy from charity shops, and we're also used to having trans/ crossdressers buying from us.

I've donated two large bags of clothes this weekend. I like the colours of the silk and thectexture of the suede so I'm keeping them.

To be honest at the start, I imagined 2 fairly average shirts, and some leather trousers.

Now the trousers have become the harness and the shirts a wing for a full size hang glider... imaginary projects are fun

I thought your imagination was going in a different direction when I read 'harness'.

Makes a change though, usually when my imagination comes into contact with your clothes they are scattered around my bedroom floor
