They may have melted and so are in a dangerous condition. You need a competent person to look at the connections in the switch on the ceiling and in the consumer unit (fuse box). | |||

You may find your fuse box cannot cope with the extra current drawn from a more modern shower. Normally showers should have heavy duty cabling similar to ovens and rated as such. The shower and pipe should be earthed too. | |||
