There are 3 envelopes.

1 contains 1 million pounds

1 contains nothing

1 contains a single penny

You are given a choice to pick 1 envelope. After you've picked an envelope, I reveal one of the other 2 envelopes, it contains nothing.

I now give you a choice whether you want to switch or stay with your envelope.

My question is what are your chances of winning 1 million pounds with YOUR envelope, and what are the chances of winning it with MINE?

Well if I stick to my first choice, my chances remain exactly the same that they were at the beginning of the game.

At the beginning I had 1 in 3 chance to win the million. So approximatevily 33 % to win the million.

There were three envelopes. I have picked one and you removed one containing nothing. So technically my 33 % chances of winning the million hasn't changed at all. I am still with the choice I have made in the begining.

So, if I stick with my envelop my chances are still 1in3, 33% to get the million. But if I choose to switch my envelope with yours I raise my chances by twice, 2in3 chance, approximatively 66 %, of winning the million.

The problem was solved by one of the smartest woman in the world... Can't remember her name but think it was Marylin or something like similar.

I came across that problem in my study.

A lot of fragile male scientists, at that time, were outraged at her findings haha they wrote her letters insulting her... Then when they realised that she was actually right, few apologied.

Nothing has changed really.
