I’ve got a lot more ink than I had. 3hrs of continuous pain and my arm is a lot blacker than it was.

What’s the usual heal time for everyone and how itchy is it going to get? What do you use to heal it? My other tats have been text and lines so it’s never bothered me much.

And of course I’m more manly and closer to rockstar status.

And talking to the dude cutting me up with needles, I asked about coverups.

So I ask you, have you ever had a cover up and why? What were you covering up? Why did you not like your tattoo anymore?

I always use Bepanthen cream on my tattoos when I've had them done , everyone's healing time is different ,mine usually take a week of putting that on and then they're fine.

Not had a need for cover-up as yet tho

There was a homemade remedy from the green witch shop in aberdour also.

Mine have never went flakey occasionally itchy but I heal very quickly.

I've got my sleeve and quite a few other tatts done, I always use Bepanthen, All of them have got itchy. Can't wait too book in and get my other sleeve done, it's very addictive.

Bepanthen for 2-3 days then Palmer's cocoa butter cream for a couple of weeks. Didn't really have much itching since I started using Palmer's. Slap it don't scratch it.

Not had a cover up but added to existing ones.

You're never too old. The 30 year olds that get sleeves will still have it at 40, 50, 60...

I do t think I’d bother with a cover up, I can get rid of tia-Marias name, but her memory is still there.

YU don't want something that pushed moisture into the skin for the first week after. Barrier creams arch as bepanthen are good as they protect the area but dint moisturise it. Once the skin has healed over then you can use moisturising products to help with the flaky skin stage.

wife uses Bepanthen all the time on hers and usually healed within a week. she gets tats every 3 mnths so shes an expert

I was given pot of cream to use after i had my tattoos done .Too many people will have there opinion what works .All skin heals different .

After my most recent tattoo all I was given by the studio was coal tar soap and it healed fine with no scabbing.

Now I'm addicted to the smell of the soap lll

I had a cover up on my shoulder as I hated my previous tattoo that I’d had done at 17, I’ve always used coconut oil for healing

Cocobutter i use and took my sleeve about 10 days to heal

I use bepanthen but put it in hot water first for a couple of mins then it will spread a load easier puts less stress on the tattoo especially when it starts to scab or go flakey

Tattoo glue is brilliant and dont pick the scabs or like me you will have to keep going back for touch ups

Only had one tatto a large back piece was told Bepanthen under cling film first 24 hours then Bepanthen til no blood when back is scabbing gently wash with coal tar soap and use E45 to moisturise healed quickly and beautifully.

I use tattoo goo or whatever the tattooist has, thankfully they've started doing bigger tubs

my pieces are usually 8 hours long

and I'm ready for another lol and I'm thinking of getting a bottom sleeve as i already have the tops inked

I've had 2 cover-ups, the first was a tattoo that i had done at 19, i had it recoloured in my 30's and they made a really shit job so 5 years later when i found a decent tattooist i had it covered up.

The second, i wanted 2 roses with filigree around it but couldn't think where so i had it over a tiny (5in) piece on my shoulder that i had done at 19, i need some more filigree added to it

I've had one cover up. I had the original tattoo done when I was 17 and hated it shortly after. It was the only design I've had that was a flash design. I had it covered with a personal design.

I swear by Bepanthen for the first three days, the Ultrabalm by Lush. I tend to heal like Wolverine though, so your mileage with this tattoo may vary.

I got both of my rib pieces covered over the last year- they were old, blown out and didn't suit my body shape any more. The reasons for them were still relevant, the representations less so.

My sleeve I've not used anything on it other than washing it twice a day. Each session has healed quick and doesn't itch much. That said there is a lot of detail in it rather than huge swathes of shading so not sure if it's linked to that.

It's a cover up, or at least started as a cover up of an elbow piece where the tattooist over estimated his ability. Considering a variation of that design on my other elbow as and when the sleeve is finished

I’ve got around 30 hours of tattooing done and have always followed the same steps.

Only keep the cling film on until I’m home, wash it with warm soapy water once I’m home.

Then cover the entire thing with a good amount of bepanthen and then wash and repeat every few hours for a few days.

Had two watercolours done last year [top of my arms, plenty blubber so no pain to speak of] and used Coconut Oil [Medical Grade from the chemist] for between 8 and 10 days. No scabbing, flakiness and no itching.

Allergic to Lanolin so couldn't use the Bepanthan.

Don't for the love of god use bepanthen. They've altered the formula and it actually can draw the ink out.

I was recommended to use hemp hand cream from the body shop. It is fairly inexpensive as you only use a bit. It smells a bit odd though. Mine healed up quickly. About 8 days but I'm a fast healer.

I've got over 70 hours of ink full back piece, full sleeve and a smaller piece. I use bepanthen about three times a day for the first few days and then just leave it once scabs have formed. The trick is to put a very thin layer on and top up when it dries, but don't over do it as it will be too greasy. Some people are having reactions with the new formulae bepanthen so tattoo goo and cocoa butter seem to be quite favourable alternatives

Contrary to most I don't use bepanthen. I find it way too sticky and thick. I use a simple moisturiser twice a day. Soaks in and doesn't ruin your clothes.

I was told by my tattooist when I had my little rodent done that they've changed it.

I had it done in November I think.

I used to use it. But I asked her and that's what she said.
