It really depends what's making him itch.

Antihistamines won't work if it isn't an allergy.

If it’s the 7 year itch, he could join Fab.

It's a good first port of call with itching..... Depending on where the itch is, of course

True but I'm hesitant to recommend a cure with such a vague desription of a third partie's symptoms.

Antihistamine. I itch all over because of medication and this stops it all for me.

I thought of scabies too.

I know two people who have intense itching and it's caused by anxiety.

LONDON (se)

Kind of depends what may be causing said itch.

If a tight itching feeling then skin is dehydrated so a hydrating lotion will be good along with an increase in water intake.

If something like eczema then a good emoliant will calm the itch so will bee propolis.

If you have doubts then go Dr or call 111 for advice

My aunt experienced an itchy body, it turned out to be a symptom of bile duct cancer. I don't for one minute think this is what your friend has but it does illustrate that if you're going to ask real people for advice on a medical problem it's best if they're actually medically qualified and have a bit more information to go on.

Yup, it's ludicrous - itching is merely a symptom, and can be from anything from a sexually transmitted disease, to an allergy, to cancer. A GP is the best bet, or a pharmacist to start with, they can advise.

Central

Have you or your friend had sex? Where is the itch? What lifestyle changes or events have you experienced, including weather differences? There are lots of things that could cause itching as a symptom. Sun exposure?

Better to clear the cause, if feasible, than just symptom relief. Recent exposure to some chemicals may cause such problems, via soaps, detergents etc. Aggravating factors could then make things worse - recent heat, insufficient body care, unwashed linens and clothing.

Antihistamine - as advised by many others - comes in tablet or lotion form. If it's eczema, soaking in an oat bath can soothe and help heal it - search the net for instructions.

Minimise stress. Consider wearing only natural fabrics, as well as for bedding.

Soz. .

The ‘shit’ i typed was written with a sense of humour poking fun at the way the internet will point towards misdiagnosis by strangers on social media, or worse, generic text that was intended for something else.

I was right then but I would say a hydrating as opposed to moisturizing lotion. Dry skin need moisturiser dehydrated skin need hydrating.

This may be a bit nasty but hard water can really dry out the skin so avoid showering daily to every other day until the skin feels better.
