It fell out of my back pocket as I was about to s8t down and.... sploosh

Fished out and shaken dry. I turned it off straight away and I’ve taken the screen off to mop the water out with tissue. Hair drier time.

Wish me luck

Noooooooo!

Don't get the hairdryer out!

Stick it in some rice! It'll absorb all the water and your phone should be ok!

Lol. It is an iPhone. I’d rice it if I couldn’t open it but the screen is off already and I’ve mopped most of the water up with tissue. Quick blast with my hair drier and it’s warm, open and drying out.

Apparently this works - the rice absorbs all the water.

Next time, show some respect and send me saucy photos whilst sitting on a sofa not the toilet.

"Has anyone else opened theirs to dry it out? "

I just take the battery out and put it in the rice in two bits.

Hairdryer never works tho cos it can't get to the water inside, the rice basically sucks it out.

Science is cool

Batteries don’t come out of iPhones easily. They’re stuck in so you have to heat them up and lever them out. It’s quite a battle.

I have it in a bag with rice now. Open though so it’s all vulnerable and exposed

Oh no! Mrs did exactly the same with an iPhone 6, it was irreparable but insured, sent it off and it was replaced but did exactly the same again two weeks later, same result. Really hope this isn't the case for you and you have insurance. Genuinely gutted for you, phones are expensive items these days.

This is why I warmed it up with the screen removed. I imagine your button and speaker started to corrode.

Using rice and surrounding a closed device hoping it draws moisture out didn’t seem to be the best way seeing as I have the tools to open it.

I used to be an aircraft engineer some time ago and we had procedures to salvage electronic equipment from aircraft that had been ditched in water.

Only time will tell now if mine corrode. If they do I’ll just change them

True. It was an easy fix. (Parts bought of eBay.) and the pins were greenish with the water damage. I do think the rice did help. iPhones are a pain in the ass trying to open now.

I went to a watersports event at an adult club a few years ago with my female partner of the time and my phone got wet with a bit more than water! I tried the rice trick then, but I guess it doesn't work with pee! Needless to say, when I put on the insurance claim form that I'd got the phone wet I didn't go into any more detail than that...
