It's a loose adaptation of real life events.

And No, it's not really spoken about. Except by the Essex wideboy gangster wannabes who drive their Ford Focus down the sea front.

Based on a true story. Some of it happened some of it is fabricated/elaborated.

Loads of theories to be found on the Range Rover murders.

Decent film though.

Yes it's almost true I knew Tony Tucker & Pat Tate, everyone still thinks the police shot them & framed the other guys.

Like the police in Canningtown some are worse than the criminals, I respect an old school villian & a honest copper but bent coppers deserve all the shit they get because nobody trusts them.

John run clubs in West Ham & met them on several occasions usually the Railway in Basildon, they might not have been people you'd take home to meet your mum but they were loyal to their friends.

Unless you lived in a area ruled by the gun you would never fully understand why local people trusted local firms over the police.

It was better to be friendly with them than not be friendly with them lol, before a drink they were sort of ok but once they started drinking you made a quick exit.

As far as I know, the book and also the film were both done with Carlton Leach's involvement and therefore quite accurate. Also fairly sure Tucker's club was where Leah Betts died, who's Dad was a police chief plus they were a massive pain in the police's behind. All of that kind of supports the claim further up that they were done over by the police. But then again they made a LOT of enemies. Read quite a bit that states that they were complete arseholes, very nasty and dont really deserve the kind of anti-hero stuff which is portrayed. That said, my ex's sister is portrayed in "Cass" about Cass Pennant as she knew him really well and says he IS a lovely guy.

There is a website where you can view the morgue photos and listen to Tony's last voicemails. Creepy. It's also interesting to try and follow what happened to their Range Rover. It is allegedly still out there!

Yet in a post above you state

"Unless you lived in a area ruled by the gun you would never fully understand why local people trusted local firms over the police."

You must live in/ visit some pretty dire places if you prefer drug taking criminals that would beat you up as soon as look at you over the local police...

Because everybody knows most police officers would risk losing their jobs, pensions and doing jail time to get one over local law abiding people...

There have bern a number of films that link to the murders.

If you want to watch films that feature just pure violence these are worth it.

I'm not a film critic or have a desire to be violent.

There’s a certain song still sung in south London about an gentleman who was convicted of doing something to bent coppers, I don’t want to say anymore than that as I don’t want to get banned but these people dont sing songs for no reason. The filth are called that for a reason and in my experience many more of them than you would think are at the very best, forgetful at convenient moments.

No one i know really seems to care about those murders, they were a long time ago now and the kids of today seem more interested in reality tv. They were decent enough films tho. Unfortunately lots of the old land marks in the films have gone now. I think they call it progression but I quite liked some of the old pubs, sad times

I don’t agree with it, I’m just saying that people feel this way for a reason, in the end if you push a people down enough with corruption and not being representative then in the end they turn.

Well you need to do your homework about Harry Roberts because he didn't target bent coppers he indiscriminately shot dead 3 (well 2 actually, his mate did the other one) coppers who approached him when he was parked up in his van.

Still, them nasty police picking on innocent motorists eh?

A clothes shop in the early 80's gets burgled & £2000 worth of gear gets nicked, the police go to investigate, when they catch the guys they are done for stealing £21,000 worth of clobber.

A local copper was punting the clothes out from his own home for him & his friends so this is just one example of how they weren't much different to the gangs, a lot of coppers in the East End of London were on the take & regularly taking bribes for info & looking after local criminals.

A few of my friends got off on offenses because they had so much on the coppers crooked activities that they couldn't take the chance of arresting them.

When it gets that bad you lose respect in the police, to become a successful criminal you simply gained info (insurance) on a few bent coppers then it was plain sailing unless you overstepped the mark by hurting or killing people.

Honest coppers were respected by the gangs but the bent one's were no better than nonces in the eyes of everyone.

I use to drive past the end of the track to work everyday.

I moved jobs just before it happened but noticed that not long after they put gates up across the lane.

I would imagine it was to stop people driving down there to have a look...
