Had a blood test a month back which showed my PSA level as high. Had the finger up the bum test which showed an enlarged prostate. 40% of men over 40 have an enlarged prostate.

Doctor felt that as at the time I had an infection and was on antibiotics this could raise the level.

So back for more blood tests yesterday, appointment to discuss results in 4th May.

Fucking horrible getting old!

Nothing obvious other than having to get up to pee in the night. Blood tests were as a result of a series of infections - chest and urine running through Feb and March and wondering why after years of perfect health

Have seen several PSA check drop in sessions advertised so it's good that people are actually talking about prostate issues. We all think we're invincible until things start going wrong! Hope all goes well for you at the next appointment OP

Wish my dad had got checked out a hell of a lot sooner! He put his lower back pain etc down to manual work!

By the time they found the cancer he was riddled with it and it was too late!

If you are concerned about a Doctor putting a finger up your bum, do not worry. Don't let it put you off getting the test. They often just test your blood for the PSA reading, so GET TESTED.

I just had the blood test and all is well but it is good to know as my Dad has prostate cancer, it's under control though.

Hey Seb.

I had an issue couple of years back. I was young for it but got Many fingers up bum. Biopsies, even a go on a Frankeinstein table with a Barium pipe up there.

Now On Cancer high risk list and will have to back after 5 years just to keep an eye.

Best news I can tell you is how fortunate you are to get it early. As you said it comes to many of us. Many spot it too late.

Good luck dude. I was utterly terrified but a lot of it now seems so funny. Got some great anecdotes out of it!

I was tested. My psa levels were really low. Doc referred me anyway. Had a radical prostatectomy back in Feb. My prostate was about 65 percent affected.
