Avoiding the sun?

Who else does it?

I’m over the bloody moon that I’m no longer shivering, can wear a flimsy dress, fling open the windows and have ice in my coffee but you won’t catch me seeking out the suns rays, I’ll be the one under a massive shade or indoors.

There and to the left a bit

As a proverbial lobster on the beach I usually avoid the sun as much as I can unless I am Factor 50'd to the hilt!!

Being a red head I have to be careful in the sun unless I want to look like a beetroot

It's nice to see the skimpy outfits making a welcome return to our High Street after a long winter of Parkas and wellies.

Asbestos suit and a welders mask here.... Im very fair and go freckly then red then peel and back to freckles. I love being naked out in the sunshine but always slathered in factor 50.

I'm not good with direct sunlight. I walked for almost an hour in it earlier and my face was beetroot.

I spend months in sunny climes but usually return to the UK whiter than when I left. Though I did have a light tan from my continental trip last week, as we were outdoors at bars etc - it's almost a first for me

I'm much happier in the shade. Even with a high factor sun cream I burn and red is so not my colour.

Although a brunette (I’m still waiting in vain for grey dreads) I go crispy too but I just find being in the sun so uncomfortable!

My brother spent many years in UAE and the last two weeks he was there, he wound down with touristy activities and got very badly burnt. Spent all his time in air conditioned cars and buildings before that.

Poor soul I just dodge between air-conditioned buildings generally, especially as I dislike much above 21/22°. But if you're abroad for long, it's easy to forget that your skin isn't primed and won't burn easily.

I love the sun and tan well but the older I get the more I realise we should slather on the high factor suncreme or seek shade!

My sister realised that far too late. Her genes are obviously more Mediterranean than the rest of her family but years of smoking and sun have turned her into an incredibly beautiful very old lady with cracked leather skin.

Been out driving all day so couldn't avoid it.

Now I'm nicely tucked away in my hotel until tomorrow

I'm out in all weathers but there's nothing better than getting my shirt off in the sunshine. After an initial pinkness i go as brown as a nut despite containing a few ginger genes.

I just avoid peak hours from 12-3.

I'm Irish so I'm a sort of whitey blue.

Earlier and later than those hours doesn't really effect me even with no sun cream on although I'm very rarely prancing about in Speedos so it's only my arms, face and legs which are all pretty weathered anyhow

a quandary, could you change my mind?

I tan quickly but don't seek out the rays but I don't hide from it, love being outside and if the sun's out even better. I always forget to put the suncream on though so it tends to be aftersun for me.

Brighton - even Hove!

I really like being out in the sun (Leo) but I did notice last year more moles than I used to have. None changed or anything but even so, maybe this year, I’ll put suntan lotion on and seek the shade more.

Up on them there hills

I don’t go out through the day.

Equally I don’t look in mirrors.

Seriously, there is a product called P20 which is a once a day sun protection which is brilliant.

L found another called Calypso (about third of the price) that works great too.

You can swim, problem is, they have “curing” times, think P20 is 90 mins, Calypso is about 30 mins.

I’ve been to some hot places, only time I have been let down was in Sri Lanka, I missed a small triangle of lotion on my calf.

I was fortunate in my youth to live in a number of sunny and hot countries so love the sun. Unfortunately whilst living in one of those countries I really badly burnt my nose and so have to stick on sun block to avoid my nose going bright red at the first sight of sunshine.

I love the sun. Shame it won't last.

Being so fair I just have to be sensible and either cover up or wear factor 50 sun screen.

I prefer the shade, as I'm very pale, and also on medication that causes my skin to be very sensitive to light

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I stick to the shade and wear sunscreen. I come out in a heat rash, my joints ache and I risk a lupus flare if I get too much sun.

I don't need a suntan

And normally I avoid the sun and seek shade wherever I go.

But it feels like it's been such a long winter I actually basked in the sunshine today on my lunch break and felt so much better for it!

I absolutely love the sun and how it makes me feel but I never sit out in it as in sunbathe. I dont hide from the sun still go out cycling etc but always wear sun factor 50 every day even in the winter..crazy but true

Shady here. Heat rash and easily sunburnt. High factor suncream liberally applied before my walk to work and back and at lunchtime if I pop out. And covered up where possible but flowy. I live in maxidresses in the summer. I like the sun but I am too sensitive to its effects to risk it, even though I miss my face freckles.
