Last week I booked a trip to Lanzarote for a friend's wedding at the beginning of September, I have just had a group message to say the wedding is off.

No explanation, just that.

Quandary, do I still go, even though I will to all intents and purposes be the only one there

I agree with this. Pretty sure others have booked and will still go. Why waste a holiday?

I have sent a group message to find out who is going to still go, problem is I only know the groom and his partner, so I don't know who else was from the wedding party, and I am going to look a right dick walking down the plane asking bride or groom lol

Can you get a refund? It's inconsiderate of them to call it off.

Ask the bride or groom if they want to go with you.

O o O oo

Seems to be going on a lot lately, that's the third I have heard of . As it seems all the rage to go abroad for weddings /hen do's as people seem to want to out do the last hen do / wedding they went to, then people are out of pocket if they cancel.

If you can't get your deposit back maybe see if the rest of the guests are still going and tag along with them

I was supposed to get married three years ago. The wedding was called off three weeks before the big day. Most of our froends had booked the weekend in the hotel. Most of them still went and had a good weekend. Personally, i'd just go anyway. A break in the sun in September will be great. So just look forward to a bit of you time.

East Sussex

Find out if anyone from fab will be there at the same time or see if there are any forums for the area where you can post to see if there will be other singles there.

I don't think I'd enjoy a holiday completely alone but if you had arranged to meet a few people socially beforehand it could turn in to a great holiday.

I have group messaged the others, some are going, others have changed their bookings and going elsewhere.

I looked at cancellation costs and it isn't worth canceling, so I guess I am going to be in Lanzarote from the 5th September for a week

Would it make a difference to the OP’s situation?

I’ve been to Lanzarote loads of times on my own. Relax, unwind and enjoy the sun
