We're all guilty if it. Making proclamations on our profile text in order to entice, reassure and appear more attractive.

Phrases like " were genuine".

"Discretion assured".

Do you read them and think, that's reassuring? Or do you cynically become uber suspicious!!

I'm suspicious of everyone I don't know, so although I do read profiles I couldn't give a rats arse what they say they're like.

I kinda think they say it for the sake of it. Like, for me it's what you'd expect of people anyway so why would you feel the need to tell me?

Same way I cringe at the term BBC.... like, I'm not fucking colour blind and I'm pretty sure people that are can tell if someone is black or not.

I feel like they must think I'm proper thick if they need to tell me they're black.

I don't trust anyone really, not until I know I can, so always take these statements with a pinch of a salt.

"I hate the ones that say they are "PROFESSIONAL""

You can tell they are lying as neither of them are called Bodie or Doyle

Camberley occasionally doncaster

I play cliche bingo on profiles. 3 strikes and it's a no (unless they are super fit)

Guilty? I think mine's pretty matter of fact. I haven't described what I look like other than in the most general terms (my verifications may say more but I always assume others read those with a pinch of salt and they're not claims I make on my own behalf). Personality wise I cover the basics - and they are basics that will probably put off more people than they attract.

There...

Isn’t a profile generally meant to entice and promote attractiveness to a desired audience? Doh! I forgot. No one reads them anyway!

I don’t hate those who call themselves professional - I do laugh at those who call themselves proffesional however...

Of course, it's our shop front window after all.

I admit to approaching everyone new with a little trepidation, but reading that they are genuine will do little to alleviate my initial suspicion?

Going on a inner cynic belief, anyone that says they are genuine, normal, nice or decent are to be avoided! Professional claimants also get a wide birth.

Anyone with a profile with some humour and personality in it are far more likely to get me to take note and respond if they have a sent a message or wink or I’ll make the first move on them

Although now off to check my profile to make sure I’ve not used any of those words! Lol

Genuine, we arranged a meet with a supposed couple who had this on their profile to be let down. I’ll see if they are genuine when we meet x

I mention the fact that I only want people from South Wales to message me but people seem to think that's a joke and continue to message me from all over the U.K.

I treat everything with a degree of cynicism until proven otherwise

Better to be pleasantly surprised than constantly disappointed

My profile is true... I can’t be doing with BS..take me as I am or not at all!!

It’s hard not be cynical... but I think with what some other have said anyone can talk the talk.. actions and speaking to someone and actually meeting them shows who they really are!!

X
